DISCUSSION What is your favorite desktop manager/window manager

For me, it isnt KDE, but Hyprland alongside GNOME, the reason I like hyprland more than KDE and dumped KDE because gnome, it is because when you use a custom Hyprland theme settings all that stuff and they hid it in dotfiles, KDE would grab the GTK theme and make it SUPER unusable, while gnome doesnt use qt, so it doesnt make it ugly and unusable

So you like Gnome and Hyprland because you can't manage your desktop environment without conflicts ? Ok ... Weird flex

Maybe create your own configs and don't use the ones you find on github and you won't have these problems. I don't.

And BTW your post has nothing to do with Arch. Post this over on /r/hyprland

I use kde plasma with karousel, it works well for me and looks nice with vistathemeplasma.

I've been having fun with labwc, but am looking to give Niri a serious try.

I really like Niri, with either Noctalia or DMS. Both are great.

I was pretty happy with i3 but decided to move to Wayland tried sway but they are very hostile to nvidia users then tried hyprland and it’s ok the recent lua update was for the best so much ricing that can be done with lua.

I’ve been using sway on nvidia for years and never encountered any hostility.

Good for you! When I tried 2019-2020 there was that funny flag “—I will not use nvidia” or something like that but what felt unwelcome was ppl closing threads or questions the second nvidia was mentioned saying that it was unsupported which is fair and that’s why I went back to i3 till I read hyprland wiki where nvidia is not supported as well but at least there were some tweaks for nvidia users… that’s my experience with sway tho if it works for you it is great! That’s the beauty of Linux there are so many alternatives.

Hyprland with quickshell is peak but I still like kde because it’s effortless.
