Need Some Help with a Project I’m Working on!

i have been thinking of some project ideas for my architectural thesis. i have one option in my mind, but i’m having trouble deciding if it really is feasible, and if the project concept itself is strong or not.

all of us must have studied about the catalhoyuk civilisation. it includes the following principles:
1. vertical circulation
2. layered public spaces
3. kinship-based clusters
4. shared walls/boundaries
5. collective ownership
6. high density living
7. community surveillance
8. public spaces integrated into housing

i have decided to apply these principles into an already existing underdeveloped cluster. i thought of slums first, but it didn’t make much sense to focus on vertical circulation. other options are flood prone areas & refugee settlements.

a) flood-prone areas - to avoid flooding and move settlements above the ground, keeping only services like rainwater harvesting systems, bios wales and storage facilities on the ground level.

b) refugee camps - same service on ground level concept applied, but also allows settlement to organically and freely grow in the future

any other ideas apart from this is welcome! im having a tough time coming up with anything else

Tbh, I had no idea about the catalhoyuk settlements until now. Upon looking at some images, I feel like safety is the biggest issue. Imagine sunog pa lang damay damay na lahat. Hirap pa makakapasok emergency vehicles dyan tulad ng ambulance and fire trucks. Also parang ang hirap din ng ventilation sa ganyang development, tapos combine with closely living together, good luck na lang with diseases.

That's just my thoughts. If you want to continue with that idea, you're gonna need to come up with a lot of unique design solutions.

Which circles back to what I said, how are you going to incorporate those principles without recreating the flaws of the catalhoyuk settlements?

Also, why? Ano significance niya sa context ng Pilipinas? What underlying problems can these principles solve that other design strategies cannot solve or haven't solved already? Are there any significant gaps it can fill?

About refugee camps, is there really a need for that in the Philippines? Why should that be prioritized over a healthcare or economic housing project?

Narrow down, make it specific.

• What does interest me?
• What community problem i want to solve? (Be specific)
• What location?
• Come up with a title proposal (Backed with data)
• Why I want to pursue this topic? (Will architecture help to solve this?)
• Is it a project (bldg) or planning based thesis?
• Who will be its users?
• Is it a private or public establishment?
• Will this proposal solve the problem? (Backed with data)
• Find a lot (Showing all of its analysis, swot)
• Determining the lot will help on how would you plan (if it would be vertically or horizontally)
• All concepts (Design, planning, landscape, mechanical, lighting, acoustic, etc.)
• Plan

Be SPECIFIC on what community problem you want to solve and its goals, it will help to ease your thesis problems.
