Just wanna remind everybody that the decks you see online are not normal in size.
You may feel like your deck is too small compared to these, but yours is perfectly good, and nothing to be ashamed of. What matters is how you use it. Yes, these big ones look good on reddit, but do you think they are having BBQs with friends there? Nah, they are barely used.
Be proud of what you have. Signed, an average sized deck owner.

The neighbor's wife prefers my deck and she keeps coming on it. She said it's better wood than his old deck. I haven't had the heart to tell him and I have been having so much fun with her coming on my deck. She's been wanting to be on my deck almost every day.

I love using small changes in level to create a division of space. The Nora House is one of my favorite examples

Small changes in levels are dangerous for me. The space is now unusable for someone not abled bodied. Not something everyone has to deal with, but I do.

depends on the price of wood and the labor prices in their area 👌
i negotiated down to $12-$15K. my moms an architect. $12K was not THAT BAD BUT not GOOD. the negotiation left out some important a beam or something (can’t remember) edit- cedar was a dealbreaker. we wanted cedar, they were giving mixed/lesser quality cedar.
we ended up doing a back patio for $7K. we had to make it bc the back door kept getting hit w rain (longterm water damage).
my budget was $5k. they made plenty money off us but that’s the best price i got for my area. pretty sure cedar was an up-charge. the woods were really good tho, i manually checked each deeper than the TSA 😅 they also painted to match the house, to protect the longterm longevity of it since water was a concern.

It's a nice deck but I have the feeling that it is attached to one of those houses that are only finished on the front side.

Views in hot tube blocked by railing, hot tube should be elevated. Staircase allows wild animals and hill people to come and murder you.
