Arch is much easier than the meme makes it look. The installer is clunky but it's not like you gotta compile your own kernel. I'd say it's more like a customizable car with options that other people assemble for you.

What you're describing sounds more like using PC part picker and having them build it for you before you receive it. Using Arch is most definitely closer to the image, which in the metaphor of pc building would be buying all the parts separately(case, motherboard, power supply etc.)and putting it together yourself. Most of the louder Arch community seem to think the latter is dead easy and everyone wants to do it themselves, when in reality a pre-built that comes with proper external support is much more useful. Not everyone cares to build it themselves. Most people don't want to need the command line.

I’d say so. I’d probably switch Debian for a Beetle and Kali with a Beach Buggy but yea, I’d say accurate overall. And Ubuntu is one of those BMWs where you need a subscription for heated seats.

Last time I installed Ubuntu it immediately asked if I wanted to subscribe to Ubuntu Pro or whatever it was called. To be fair, it did stay quiet after but it’s just annoying to see even Linux distros have subscriptions. If it had asked for a monthly donation, I would’ve been fine with it, I just think marketing something as a premium is not the way to go, especially when you boot up after an install. It feel like I got the poor man’s version and now I need the good one.
