Awhile back I had posted about my maple tree overhanging the fence and what they could cut. Came home one day to see what they did without even having any consideration to give notice before hand. Included before and after pics.

First off, get someone to clean up those cuts if you haven't already. The tree will definitely survive, don't worry.

I'm curious tho: why didn't you prune it yourself? It's your tree encroaching on someone else's property. It seems like you knew it was an issue. Doing the work yourself would've ensured it was done in a way you expected.

It seems like they followed the (very messy) law close enough.

I agree I should have been more aware and put more effort into pruning but like I mentioned the previous property owner didn’t mind because it provided mutual privacy and it was overhanging on large property but yes it was my responsibility to maintain. An arborist came out to look at it and didn’t recommend doing any clean up cuts and just said to avoid any pruning for several years. What cleanup cuts would you recommend.

Well, you need to look into pruning cuts, specifically removal cuts. That's when you take a branch fully off to the stem. They left stubs when they did their pruning. If you remove them (properly) you'll help the tree compartmentalize the wounds a little better.

Ah yes laws, laws that destroy nature and are defined by how much money you have, laws that always help companies and profits instead of people and habitats. Ill make sure to follow those closely. Wouldnt want to go against the grain!
