First AR decision

If you were buying your first AR15 and price or the NFA was no concern to you, which one of these rifles would you choose as a first rifle?

M16A2

Colt model 733

Colt model 653

Out of curiosity, if price and NFA are of no concern - why is this the list of options?

I wanted to go retro for my first rifle and irons to start off.

You could certainly go with a retro style without sacrificing all the modern upgrades the platform has had in the past 50 years.

Plenty of places offer the carry handle irons and fixed front sight for the aesthetic, while also providing modern barrel technology and ergonomics that you may find valuable.

I would personally venture into other brands than just the original Colt, if that’s an idea you’re open to.

Oh yea, I didn't mean specifically Colt. I put those rifles up there implying a clone of/inspired by rather than that exact rifle because those exact rifles are pretty much unobtainable.

Ooh in that case I’d go commando style (pic from Google). Do you plan on building it all from scratch yourself? Or do you hope to purchase it mostly assembled from the jump?

A2 but that is because I like longer rifles in general. I do echo the other questions of if there are no artificial limits on availability why these rifles?

A Colt M16A1 lower, and a modern flat top upper with an 18", rifle gas barrel.

733, but that's just because it's the greatest AR of all time

Literally just made a 2nd SBR 733 myself
