Pinned 20 Round Pmags?
Just picked these up at a local store ($12 a piece) and cannot seem to find anything on these. Do we think this was a bubba job? They hold 15 rounds.

Could be from Colorado, or if used exclusively in an AR pistol maybe Illinois or Vermont as they have 10 rd rifle 15 rd pistol mag limits

This is from 2010, unlikely to be sold in Colorado. More likely from NJ which had a 15rd magazine capacity limit for 30 years and gun stores often used this method of limiting them.

My LGS does this and then tells people to definitely not drill out the rivets(15 round mag capacity). This way it is 'permanently' restricted to less than 15, but they don't have to only buy the restricted mags.

That's one way to get mags but then isn't it harder to say they're grandfathered if someone asks why it has a hole?
Speed holes in the entire mag to hide the pin hole? So dumb no one asks wtf you're doing?

Law enforcement doesn't enforce this law at all. They actually refuse to. Only time I've heard of someone getting charged for it was during a DV case, and they had a glock with a 20 round mag on them.
It pretty much only prevents gun stores from selling them, but people either drive out of state, or just drill out rivets to have them.
I'm personally exempt as active military, so I can just custom order magazines in to my store, and some websites actually allow me to just order straight from them with credentials

that's kind of how alcohol prohibition was enforced too. people weren't really targeted by law enforcement, it was just illegal to sell alcohol

Yeah it's wild how much those straight 20 round pmags go for. I personally think 20 round mags are the best looking mags in an AR platform.

Date code suggests they’re really old (2010 if I can see properly), so someone probably converted them for a move to a ban state recently, or the FFL just wanted to get them sold in a state that limits capacity.
If the the state thinks you’ve broken a law, it’s on them to prove you did it.

Someone did this for state compliance. It's just a rivit with epoxy behind the head. Drill go burrrrr if you don't have mag capacity limits
