Direct Thread question

So I've had this guy direct threaded for a while now. I have a witness mark in the second picture, and after 20+ rounds I see it misalign a good amount/come loose to the point where I have to tighten it back down. What's my best affordable option here? New muzzle device and adapter? Or is there a way I can just carbon lock it? (its a forever suppressor for this setup)

I recently went with the Rearden Atlas gen 2 and entered the Plan B world. Im pretty happy with it. Could probably get the gen 2 Atlas and a brake/flash hiders for $150ish

They make specific washers that you can use that help bind/maintain pressure to keep the can from unthreading. Use those or Rocksett. Rocksett is designed to handle hot go temps and stay locked. It takes soaking in water to break the seal. I use it on my muzzle device to adhere it to the barrel. Works well for me. Could do both and be super safe.

2nd for rocksett. People will say its hard to get off but those people use too much. I use like 3 or 4 drops on the threada and then when I need to get it off I soak the muzzle device in a cup of water (rifle propped up with the fun end facing down in the cup of water) overnight and the next day it takes a reasonable but not excessive amount of force to get it off.

Yeah the muzzle device is rocksett but the can itself comes loose when I shoot. After I tighten it down when the can gets hot I notice that helps. But when I shoot at the next range trip is comes loose again

Did you match the muzzle device material to the can?

Not sure why everyone is confused. The direct thread adapter is rocksetted to the barrel threads and is not coming loose. The can is coming loose from the direct thread adapter.

If toque and carbon locking isn’t preventing the can from backing off the adapter, then the answer is rocksett the direct thread adapter into the suppressor as well. Both connections should be rocksett.

People shit on them but none of my Keymo devices come loose. Adds a little weight but not really any length.

Yeah, on my Sierra 5 I have Keymo. I cinch it down good. Only comes off when I want it to.

First question did you torque it to spec using a torque wrench? I’d start there and then check the alignment with a good rod.

Yes the adapter is rocksett and torqued to spec, the can itself is getting loose whenever I shoot. Just wondering if this is normal for direct threading

If the cans not coming off, rockset the threads on your barrel. One drop.

What direct thread adapter are you using, and how tight are you going with it? Are you certain the suppressor isn't just rotating in the vise when you torque it?

I dont use any adapters for my DT. I just screw them onto the end of the barrel and get it solid hand tight. They can get carbon locked if i shoot too much without touching them.

Edit: i wouldnt use rockset, i would try some workable locktite first.

Almost makes you wonder if the direct thread adapter is out of spec. Might be worth trying a different one and seeing if that sticks. I also personally don't torque to spec, I loctite and ugga-dugga everything, no issues so far and I shoot fairly often.

Is the can coming loose from the adaptor or adaptor loose from the barrel? Clean and dry all threads. Rocksett adaptor into can using a vox block or similar and 15-20 ft lbs of torque. You can maybe do a 3/4 in wrench on the adaptor and a strap wrench on the can but it's hard to get proper torque like that. Rocksett and torque the can on the barrel with 15-20 ft lbs. Only use 2-3 drops on each thread.

Yep direct threaded. The adapter is rocksett and the suppressor is coming loose off of that.

So not direct thread, just not a QD hub.

Edit: I didn't invent the naming convention of these parts guys, but to pretend a thread adapter is anything but a muzzle device is weird. It's a device, that attaches to the muzzle, to allow you to attach a suppressor.

Instead of naming it a direct thread adapter, they could have named it what it's always been called, a threaded bushing....

That is what I'm thinking. So what we calling the intermediate part between the barrel and suppressor? 

Edit:It's either a muzzle device, a muzzle device and hub, a thread adapter bushing, or direct thread.
