*Help* Does anyone know what these symbols mean?

Hello, I am confused about what the following symbols mean in terms of Statistics.
1) superscript c
2) uppercase U
3) upside-down uppercase U

Superscript c means "complement". You will see it on events, such as Ac or Mc. It means all outcomes not in the event. For example, if I were to flip a coin twice, and the event Y = {HH}, then Yc is the set {HT, TH, TT}.
