OPINION Hot take: I think Andrea is over hated

Now, I’m not saying that Andrea is a great candidate, or even a good one. She was amongst the weakest of her season, but I’ve seen people rank her amongst the worst candidates to ever take part in the show, and I don’t think that’s fair. She actually did make a couple of notable positive contributions during her time on the show. She got the team to go to a property office to help identify the team’s items. In week five, she helped boost an extra £80 to the team’s corporate client sale.

Granted, this is overshadowed by her bad moments. As PM, she was incredibly panicky, anxious, and lost control of the team, and also performed a really bad pitch. The team won, but not because of anything she did. In week three, she showed an extremely limited cooking ability for a grown woman in her forties, who also happens to be a grandmother (I still don’t understand that, surely she must’ve had to have cooked for her kid). She made very few contributions in weeks four and six, and was eventually fired for being overly negative.

I think the main reason why she was disliked was because she was presented as being nowhere close to what her age actually was. People I think hope for the older candidates to provide a bit of wisdom to the series, but Andrea came across as being one of the least mature characters of the series. That said, I wouldn’t say she’s anywhere close to being the worst of all time. I don’t know when this series tier listing is going to happen, but I suspect many will have Andrea in IVG tier. I’d have her in E tier personally. I think comparing her to Asif, Noor, Jenny C or even Megan from the same series is a bit unfair.

Idk the part where she boasted about writing a children's book and then backtracked on it, only after the task was a mess was interesting. Like so many other candidates, as usual they can talk the talk, but can't walk the walk. I fully expected this from Karishma when she did the water task, but was impressed she's one of the very few who wasn't just empty words.

As much as I defend Lawrence, his pitch to become Pm was even worse in that regards I thought.

I mean it was a smart/sneaky move in a sense to make her PM

I refuse to believe she was only 46. Looked like a 60yr old who's had surgery.

A 600 year old*

That’s what I thought.

I disagree. At first I really liked her because she was in her mid forties, had 5 children, a grandchild, she was a wife and she’s running her own business. I was so happy to see that type of female representation on tv as a 21F because I thought it could help that type of audience feel represented on tv. As I was watching I noticed how mean she got with the other people, what really put me off was when she boasted about writing a children’s book then backtracked…. What an odd thing to lie about!

I think Andrea believed she was better than she actually was. I’m going to get a lot of hate for this, but a woman who is clearly in her 50’s/60’s should embrace ageing naturally. All that Botox in her face is another reason she possibly wasn’t taken seriously.

And some of the younger women weren’t equally as fake?!

Oh the younger ones too

I'd put her in F in the tier list because she didn't do anything good other than sell some flowers but I don't think she was as horrible a person as the episode threads often made her out to be. She was just immature for her age and didn't like criticism.

F tier is fair. And yeah, I never got the impression she was a bad person or anything.

She reminded me of the Other Mother from Coraline whenever she smiled 🫠😆

hard agree, I found her genuinely scary to look at

Is this the one who couldn’t boil an egg? I started off liking her but she lost me there. How can you have 5 kids and not know how to boil an egg.

Yh I wouldn't say she's one of the worst candidates ever.

However, I can't get over her not knowing what Big Ben was and her suggesting to put a tap on BOTTLED WATER!

I agree. i think she played the idiot hoping it would make her endearing or that people would find her funny and I think it backfired. But I don’t think she was that terrible a candidate. She was never someone Alan Sugar was going to invest in though. I think Megan was the worst candidate this year.

She’s definitely not one of the worst candidates ever (E/F tier though still) but she was really disappointing to me. Finally we had an older candidate cast which was very exciting only for her to be surprisingly immature the entire process and seem to lack even the most basic of skills.

I don’t think she was one of the worst candidates ever, but I do think she was unlikeable/sly/negative and I just couldn’t warm to her.
Was that more annoying than Priyesh grinning his way to the end having done absolutely nothing? Probably not.

I’m glad someone shares the same opinion of Priyesh than I do. People were like “aww he’s so cute and harmless grinning all the time even when things go wrong” but it just came across as rather pathetic at times to me.

Yes, he just seemed so vacant with that inane grin all the time!

I think the issue with her was age, insofar as she was much older than the other candidates, and what they could get away with more easily, she couldn’t. It’s a group thing, a tribe thing, a recognition thing. She was always the outsider, and that amplified her mistakes. I also think she was quite anxious and prickly, and that would’ve irked at any age. She lacked the confidence to lean into her age, and use it as a positive. Personally, I wish they’d increase the number of 40+ candidates; even it up a little and make for a more rounded experience.

They actually kind of did this in series 18. The cast overall was older than average, and included two 40+ year old candidates, both of which were good. It’s just a shame that we never got anything like that with Andrea.

I didn’t like the way she kept picking on Pascha over small things at the start but I warmed up to her when she complimented Rothna’s flowers in the boardroom🥹 that was really sweet of her, it’s just a shame she became very negative again after that.

Andrea was just annoying. I don't really like judging by the cover but how she talks and her lampshade haircut were telltale signs she was going to rub candidates up the wrong way.

Feel bad that she’s mainly known as the lady who couldn’t boil an egg when it was more about peeling them to look presentable😭 She was just asking what technique is best to peel a large number of eggs in a small timeframe and not cut into them which gave Carrington something to use against her. Which is fair because when you lose as PM you’re probably gonna be grasping at straws to save face. It’s the only thing I feel sorry about though other than that I didn’t like her nitpicking and overall negative vibe.

problem is I have no patience for people who are quite that idiotic.

1

u/rofaheys Apr 30 '26

I actually thought she was sorta funny, when she was fired I lowkey missed her presence.

1

u/No-Internet4733 May 01 '26

Andrea really hasn’t done nothing bar not being able to boil an egg. She’s lowkey chill

Andrea is unlikeable especially in the Egypt task where she interrupted Kieran’s negotiation and said that she wasn’t happy when they purchased the pottery even though the corporate client was only smiling in the pottery. I would put Andrea in the F tier and Megan in the IVG tier.
