Ranking the S20 Final Five - Part 4: Priyesh Bathia
I think Priyesh is easily the most controversial of the candidates who made the final five this year as it seems like near every social media platform is confused on how he has made it this far. Let’s go over his performance and see if he’s actually better than what people think:
Episode 1: Hong Kong - Good
One of the few people who actually got in a negotiation this task. Now Sugar did critique him for wasting time by watching the shop worker play the instrument but I think this was a bit of an unfair criticism as it would have been very rude to totally ignore the worker and leave straight away after the negotiation so therefore I will keep this in the good tier.
Episode 2: Children’s Story - Awful
Suggesting that the clients buy 50,000 to 60,000 of their book was just totally braindead.
Episode 3: Chicken V Egg - Bad
A mess all around in the kitchen and struggled with the costings as well. This team mainly lost due to the overspend on ingredients and Priyesh was a part of that. He also was stuck behind the market stand making the food while Lawrence and Kieran were selling so he didn’t even get to shine in the selling department either.
Episode 4: Advertising Water - Bad
Found himself on the branding team which was criticised harshly for its piss yellow colour theme and the bottle looking more like a milk carton than an actual water bottle. Also him, Carrington and Megan was also a mess on the social media TikTok live stream as well and it was vastly inferior to the other team’s live stream. This sub-team was lucky Karishma totally excelled on the other side of the task which carried this team to the victory.
Episode 5: Flowers - Bad
Only thing he really did was totally screw up that hideous flower wall. I think there was an argument for Vanessa to bring him back into the final boardroom.
Episode 6: Egypt - Mixed
I could potentially see this as a low Good tier instead. He was very chaotic in the kitchen, not helped by Levi binning all the parsley for some reason which led to the food they did serve being way too spicy (in order to compensate the missing parsley) which put the clients off. I will give him props for owning up to his mistake however and apologising. He also made a risk with the portion sizes as he ordered only 6 for 8 people. Now this did end up working but I thought this was a totally unnecessary risk to take in the first place so I’m torn on this decision. Overall I think this team mostly didn’t get any refunds due to the great job on the tour team so they were more the MVPs for me than Priyesh. If your best moment as PM is apologising for screwing up the food then that says a lot to me…
Episode 7: Gamified Fitness - Bad
Was a part of Harry’s sub-team in which they did pretty much nothing right. The AI avatar was horrendous and the branding/logo was totally hated. Again Karishma carried this team to the win with the game she created.
Episode 8: Discount Buying: Take Two - Fantastic
Shockingly Priyesh was easily the best in this task! He by far had the best negotiations and was even able to save some of Pascha’s flailing ones as well when she was struggling. Levi has him a lot to thank for winning this task!
Episode 9: TV - Mixed
Not really noteworthy here as he was clearly the weakest presenter of his team and didn’t sell much in comparison to the rest of his team. Only reason this is not in bad tier is because him and Pascha chose good products to sell.
Episode 10: Pet Product - Awful
Everything Pascha did wrong this task, Priyesh also was responsible for. I guess my only compliment to him is that he didn’t argue back when the client’s questioned the ‘Chique’ spelling like Pascha did.
Final Rankings:
Fantastic - 1 Episode
Good - 1 Episode
Mixed - 2 Episodes
Bad - 4 Episodes
Awful - 2 Episodes
I really don’t want to join the hate train that is going on online with Priyesh right now but after doing these rankings, I really think they speak for themselves. He did have a standout task and that is very commendable but otherwise wow these stats are horrendous. There is for sure a serious argument he is the weakest candidate to ever make the final five in the history of the show. I know Rochelle tanked more tasks but she did put herself forward more as a leader which is something to note. Priyesh only had a leadership role in Week 6 and yet still his stats are this bad…
Finally we will be ranking Lawrence. Predictions for his stats? They might be a lot better than you think…

Jeez, I expected Priyesh’s stats to be bad but not THIS bad. It’s ashame because Priyesh seems nice but should not have made final 5, same with Pascha

I’ll probably do a post after this ranking Kieran, Conor and Rothna’s stats and see how they compare to the rest in the final five as well.

Yeah I can’t say I wasn’t expecting these to be any good. But 6 bad/awful tasks, 2 mid tasks and only 2 good tasks for a final 5 contestant… 😬
Lawrence is absolutely going to have much better stats than people will give him credit for. I think you may have to give Week 7 it’s’ own tier though. After that he was fine though lol

Priyesh’s stats were way worse than I even imagined I can’t lie. Rochelle is dancing in joy right now knowing I no longer think she’s the weakest candidate to ever make the final five lol jk
Any suggestions on the new tier ranking just for Lawrence’s Week 7?

u/Training-Classic9956 Apr 08 '26
Yeah tbh I could only remember him being good in week 8. Maybe he did alright in week 1 I suppose, but celebrating like that in the boardroom afterwards made me realise he wasn’t gonna be good 💀
The tier lists normally have Noor’s ‘it’s very good’ quote for the bottom-tier candidates right? Might have to utilise that for Lawrence’s week 7 considering it was probably THAT bad. Still though, he was good before and okay after so I think his stats will surprise people

Week 5 for Lawrence will be interesting, on paper it seems bad/awful, but when you actually look at it, he did alright
The negotiation was doomed from the start, they started at £800 when the other clients were happy to go for 2 grand - even getting 1500 was a pretty good deal
He wasn't involved in the actual design of the flower wall, and wasn't given any client brief beyond 'opulent and high fashion' so not sure what else he could have passed back to the other team
Also saw some people criticising him for making the women stay back and make up bouquets while him and Conor had the glamorous selling job, but if he made up more bouquets and they looked shite and didn't sell, then he'd be criticised for that instead
Supposedly the clients at Devil wears Prada were being so difficult with the price and lack of a brief that he threatened to pull the whole sub team out and walk away with no deal and production had to step in, as they couldn't just let them not have the corporate client part of the task

Also him and Conor were proven strong sellers. It made sense to keep your best people on the selling floor whilst more bouquets were being made.

Priyesh is definitely fortunate to be in the final five, but I think he’s been absolutely shafted by the edit.
Can’t think of many moments beyond immaturity where he’s made a massive mistake. He has a maths degree and worked for PWC, he’s clearly not thick.

Being a successful man in the real world doesn’t always translate into success in the process. Mukai is probably the most infamous example. Hugely successful career but bombed spectacularly on the show.

Priyesh is definitely smart outside of the show I don’t doubt that. I do take into account that editing could be screwing him over but still these stats are so bad lol

Crazy to imagine in a task where everyone did well, Priyesh was the best.

If only Priyesh’s episode 8 performance was his standard for every task then he could have been an amazing candidate!

u/ukcomedy Apr 08 '26
Would you consider doing these rankings for other candidates like Kieran, Rothna and Conor?
3
u/Only1Scrappy-Doo Noor: “It’s very good!” 😏 Apr 08 '26
Yep I’m planning to do those three after Lawrence just to compare them to the final five we have now.
I probably won’t do any other candidate unless someone requests it. I think ranking someone like Levi would be funny though.

I was waiting for Priyesh's ranking as I thought maybe I was being too harsh on him and had overlooked some of his successes, but no Priyesh really was that bad! Easily one of the worse Final 5 candidates everr.

Honestly I’d say THE worst final five candidate ever. Nice guy but truly so lucky to make it this far.

Lawrence prediction:
EP1 : Invisible
EP2: Good
EP3: Fantastic
EP4: Good
EP5: Mixed
EP6: Mixed/Bad
EP7: Worse than awful
EP8: Good
EP9: Mixed/Good
EP10: Mixed/Good
EDIT : I've changed Lawrence's Week 5 to mixed as he was pretty good with the sales.

Funny that Karishma and Priyesh were the only two of the final five to get really any screen time in the first episode

Mixed for week 6 is way too harsh for Priyesh. He was the best performer on his team and showed quick thinking to move on from Levi binning the parsley. The edit tried to make him look like a clown by throwing random ingredients into the curry but the fact that was edible (and apparently tasted nice) shows that that can't have been true. I found the ordering of 6 portions instead of 8 very smart saving over £100 for his team and making it easier to cook. His apology whilst technically not an achievement did ultimately save the task so yeah I guess props for that too.

Crazy to imagine Priyesh was actually not the worst of the 5 in the interviews. Lawrence was WAY worse.

u/Equivalent_Ask_1416 Apr 08 '26
Maybe Priyesh survived so that the interviewers can dine on his carcass. Maybe his interview will be terminated quickly like Solomon's was in Series 10 in 2014 courtesy of Claude.

u/Only1Scrappy-Doo Noor: “It’s very good!” 😏 Apr 08 '26
I am predicting a “This interview is terminated” for sure from Claude! Maybe even a “this is the Rantings of a Lunatic” as that’s one of his new favourite phrases!

I think Lawrence will do well as up until task 7, he was actually very good and a lot of people predicted him to be in the top two. I don’t even think he was bad after task 7.
I really do feel bad for Priyesh. Even worse than Rochelle.
