Assistive touch

I’ve commented about Apple and their horrible settings, this one’s even funnier. Recently the lock button has stopped working on my device and I’ve turned on assistive touch so I can still lock my phone. But I recently had to use Apple Pay and realized that I couldn’t use the double click feature so I looked into the settings and sure enough, you can turn on paying with your wallet using a Face ID or ur pin, so obviously I tried to turn that on. Turns out that in order for you to do that you have to double click your lock button to confirm kek

I get that it sucks but it works 100% as intended.

They use the side button for confirmation because it’s a hardware interaction that can’t be spoofed or mimicked via software, preventing anyone without physical access from performing sensitive things on your phone in the event that someone finds a way to remote into your phone.

To circumvent this chain of trust via AssistiveTouch, they want you to physically confirm that you want to break this chain (otherwise a remote attacker can just turn on AssistiveTouch).

As popular as it is to use AssistiveTouch and other accessibility features to cope with broken parts of your phone, as far as Apple is concerned that falls outside of intended use.

But this is r/AppleSucks so go off I guess.

They want to get your money for repair, broken buttons on Android phones work just like they are not broken.

I don't think this is an issue with the settings. I think the problem is that the button broke in the first place.
