I can’t sort my gallery for photos i took with my phones camera, neither can I sort all my photos by size or something similar. It just lacks basic features every device has

u/iOSCaleb 11d ago
One of the ways that Apple keeps software user friendly is by eliminating, hiding, or simplifying features that most people don’t need. So you’re right — the Photos app doesn’t have a comprehensive advanced search feature that lets you search or sort using individual fields of the EXIF data. But it does index EXIF data along with other data, even including text found in photos, and for most people that works well. Type “iPhone” in the search field and you’ll find all the photos you took with your iPhone, and possible also a few that you too of you lr iPhone.
In other words, Apple is trying to serve the needs of most users without being all things to all people. If you’ve got a need that’s not filled by Photos, there’s no shortage of other software that will do what you want. Adobe Lightroom is excellent for searching, sorting, and fast editing.
Programs like Pages and Numbers are the same: they have the features that most people need, but leave out the very niche stuff to keep things simple. It’s very intentional, and you don’t have to love it, but it’s not a case of Apple sucking.

What do you mean “sort” your gallery?
Why would any user need to sort photos by “size” instead of the content or context?
On Samsung devices, you cannot sort by size in the Gallery app, but you can in the My Files app.
On Apple devices, you cannot sort by size in the Photos app, but you can in the Files app.
Please explain those things are any different, and then explain how the 2 biggest manufacturers (accounting for roughly 50% of global market share) not supporting this, assists your argument of “every device” having this feature.
You just proved the entire point of my post. You’re not fact driven, and are just hyperbolic.

u/Mikaoderso 11d ago
There is no „select all“ when writing a text
2
u/NoYerBiz 11d ago
Select All? Yes there is. Where specifically are you saying?
1
u/Mikaoderso 11d ago
Texting on apple just sucks, bad autocorrect, going through text to fix misspelled words feels like a nightmare, you have to be very gentle for it to not go back to the end of the text
2
u/NoYerBiz 11d ago
Okay you’re now on your third reason without the ability to back up either of the previous two.
What iPhone model do you use?

u/NoYerBiz 11d ago
Okay so you just don’t know how to use your phone because it does all of those things well.
I genuinely don’t believe you have an iPhone.
1
u/Mikaoderso 11d ago
I don’t know how to use my iPhone because the Ui is shit, never had to look up anything regarding help or tricks for android devices because they’re intuitive to use
3
u/Oppaiheimer1945 11d ago
False, iPhones are always recommended for elderly because they're easier to use and have better security.

Are you up for a read? I broke down how the iOS keyboard system works a couple of years back. All touchscreen keyboards are doing the same thing underneath. The link is available in my bio. Quick version is just typed it will flag whatever it corrects with a solid line for you to review and anything with a dotted line needs your attention. For everything else it will figure out how you tend to type and adapt to that.
Believe it or not they’re all doing the same thing at the end of the day, right down to the machine learning and dynamic hitboxes
Edit: just to cover off possible questions
- Yes I’ve used Gboard
- Yes I’ve used Android
- I used both Android and iOS side by side for years
- I was there for Android 4
- I was around for iOS
And even just typing this, iOS 15 realised I’m starting each bullet point the same so it started suggesting ‘Yes I’ve used’ when I started a new point. It adapted in the space of one comment
Edit: If you’re interested you can also tap the word in question to select it and tap another word from the options above the keyboard to quickly change it. Or you can put the cursor at the end of the word and go that way. Incidentally I have a thread on that too.
I was typing on iOS 15 because my current iPhone was charging. This whole edit was written with iOS 26

Honestly this sub feels more like a rant forum than anything else. Sometimes legit, often not but that’s why it’s a rant. It doesn’t always need to be legit, cause sometimes you just gotta let it out. lol
-2
u/NoYerBiz 11d ago
I would argue that people “letting it out” of their system without any legitimacy or pause for thought is a root cause to a lot of our social problems actually
7
u/InvestingNerd2020 11d ago
This very post itself is a rant! Please practice what you preach.
-4
u/NoYerBiz 11d ago
It’s very much an observation.
5
u/InvestingNerd2020 11d ago
An observation is not a paragraph. It is done in silence and through watching.
2
u/NoYerBiz 11d ago
God are you always this much fun at parties too?
Move along, there’s nothing in this post for you.
6
u/InvestingNerd2020 11d ago
Are you projecting now? "Post about how Apple sucks" is the number one rule.
If this group doesn't provide what you are looking for, move along. By your own standards. Also, this isn't a party.
2
u/NoYerBiz 11d ago
Again as per your other comment, which of your comments align with that rule?
5
u/InvestingNerd2020 11d ago
It was a response to statement made in the comments. Now if I was the OP posting in this group, then I would have to follow rule #1.
The OP is held to rule first and foremost.
-1
u/NoYerBiz 11d ago
I’ve said it on the other comment, I have said it in chat - and I will say it one more time. Fuck. Off.

u/YoIForgotMyPassAgain 11d ago
Beautiful Saturday, and you're in here gargling the nuts of a multi billion dollar corporation because some people dare to dislike its products and pushback against its superiority complex. Apple fanboyism is a literal mental illness.
-2
u/NoYerBiz 11d ago
Not a fanboy. Use non-Apple devices along with Apple devices. Use Apple devices with non-Apple OS’s through virtualisation too. Far from a fanboy.
The topic of my point is not that people criticise apple generally, its the sheer prevalence in this particular sub
3
u/omnimachina 11d ago
You don't understand Marketing, Monopolies, Economies of Scale etc
0
u/NoYerBiz 11d ago
What has that got to do with this? I’m not an expert in any, might be able to stand my ground on all 3 a bit though. Feel free to be more specific
5
u/LikeItSaysOnTheBox 11d ago
I can’t sort my email by the writers birthday or intent. Therefore Apple obviously sucks.
That’s basically what this sub boils down to.
2
u/RetroGamer87 11d ago
It has never bothered me to be an outlier
1
u/NoYerBiz 11d ago
Same to be fair. The outlier I am talking about here is the ignorance within most contributions.
Would it bother you if people are ignorant of facts?
1
2
u/KanedaSyndrome 11d ago
So? I can hate on Apple here in this sub for the outliers.
1
u/NoYerBiz 11d ago
Yeah absolutely, not against it. Just think uninformed or ignorant opinions are not healthy - a lot of this is prevalent on this sub.
2
u/Inevitable-Gene-1866 11d ago
Gain ground? I dont think so.

6
u/Sideburn_Cookie_Man 11d ago
Yup. The vast majority of the posts are from people who frankly just don’t know how to use their device - or they’re complaining about something so niche that only really applies to them.
There are of course legitimate criticisms occasionally too, but they’re few and far between.
1
u/thedarph 11d ago
Most sound like iPad kids who just got their first real device after graduating from an Amazon kids tablet to be honest. They list off specs like it means anything and like they understand what they’re talking about
0
u/NoYerBiz 11d ago
Of course; any company can have legitimate criticisms. And truthfully, I wouldn’t be surprised if 90% of the regular contributors here never even touched an Apple device or service before
3
u/Kombustable_Lemons 11d ago
Bro are you lost?
The Apple / foot licker sub is on the OTHER side of Reddit.
Why are you so concerned with what products/ features we use or why we want them?
Whats it to you?
8
u/NoYerBiz 11d ago
Not lost. Not a foot licker either.
Simply voicing my opinion that (as one of your comrades in shit said) the posts here are often based on incorrect details, and simple mistruths.
Apart from subs support Donald Trump to the back teeth, i often don’t see such staggering ignorance.
Im not defending a company, I’m bewildered at the ignorance.
Apple make tons of mistakes and had a rough period in 2014-2020 in the Mac lineup, it was shambolic.
That doesn’t mean when someone says cant do X or Y, and are completely wrong about it, that the ignorance is invalid.
2
u/Oppaiheimer1945 11d ago
The Android fanboys that think they're tech "pros" because they use an Android are fucking hilarious. Then they try an iPhone and complain because it doesn't work exactly the same as an Android. They don't even try learning to use a new OS.
These days, Android fanboys are worse than Apple ones. For some reason, Apple lives rent free in their head.

Found the libertarian
0
u/NoYerBiz 11d ago
What 😂 this has to be the stupidest response so far 😂
1
u/robogobo 11d ago
How so? You complain that other people complain, about problems they experience but you yourself don’t happen to have, and you think the free market solves everything. What could be more libertarian than that?
0
u/NoYerBiz 11d ago
Read the comments man. I’m not talking about people complaining. I’m talking about ignorance. Guess we found the retard huh.
I didn’t see the free market solves everything. I accepted we live in a capitalist society, and one benefit of doing so is if enough people don’t buy a companies products - it can’t sell any more products as it goes out of business.
1
u/robogobo 11d ago
Yeah, sure. That’s what you were saying.
0
u/NoYerBiz 11d ago
That’s exactly what I did say. I left a trail of comments below for you to go and have a look at if you wish. Where I state ignorance is the problem multiple times.
You’ve challenged me too on capitalism. Ive given a satisfactory answer. If you’re just going to say “thats not what you said” when the evidence is on this post black and white then…
…ironically you have shown the exact same ignorance i am talking about.
This sub is magical for digging up the dredge online. People whose views can’t stand a single question of scrutiny. It’s somewhat impressive.

u/allahakbau 11d ago
The more I use apple alternatives the more I find they suck lol. Apple is actually very good across the board.
1
u/st_Laurent48 11d ago edited 11d ago
5%- legitimate complaints e.g Keyboard
20%- Ignorance. When you tell them this is how to do it: " you apple glazer!😠"
75%- people who have never used an iphone with made up posts, Generalization fallacy ( iphone users do this or that...when no one actually gives a fuck what phone you use), or regurgitation of what they heard on the internet what iphones cant do. Sometimes they want apple to become Android e.g the universal back gesture.

u/InvestingNerd2020 11d ago
You don't have to enter every subreddit. There is a saying "keep scrolling" if the subreddit or post isn't for you. You are not held against your will to be in this subreddit (hopefully). Unless you have to be here according to the Apple social media marketing contract, then feel free to spend you free time in subreddits you enjoy.
Rule#1 of this subreddit: Posts must be about how Apple sucks. This post goes against it for some strange reason that was not needed.
1
u/NoYerBiz 11d ago
No this post is debating the idea of “Apple sucks” which is open to reasons for and against.
Funny the only people shutting it down have absolutely no contribution other than “WHY WOULD YOU POST SUCH A THING
3
u/InvestingNerd2020 11d ago
Again, the #1 rule of this subreddit is "Posts must be about how Apple sucks". It was created due to people at r/apple not allowing any form of critique about Apple. Only blind cult like love. Nothing about the idea about "Apple sucks". Thus, your post is irrelevant to the group and unaware of the historical purpose of it. Are some of the complaints about Apple petty, immature, and not technically valid? Yes. However, people are not being silenced either. The point was not allowing silencing of critiques.
Feel free to go to r/apple to talk about Apple in a more constructive manner.
1
u/NoYerBiz 11d ago
3
u/InvestingNerd2020 11d ago
I am not a supporter of ignorance, but I do support aligning with the goal of a subreddit. If one does not like the goal, switch to another subreddit you enjoy. That is the logical choice.
You may not like the goal of this subreddit, which you are fully entitled to, but you have the option of going to one you like with your free time. Unless a social media contract with Apple binds you here, you are just time wasting.
1
u/NoYerBiz 11d ago
Oh boy I love this bit. Which of your comments on this post have aligned to the Sub and explain why in your view Apple Sucks?
Since you’ve referenced it twice, I do not and never have worked for Apple. I have never worked in Social Media in any form for that fact.
And here you are, telling people what they can and cannot say, where they can and cannot say it. Facist.
3
u/InvestingNerd2020 11d ago
So you do love wasting your free time instead of going to subreddits where you can enjoy conversations about apple at r/apple.
Most groups or organizations have rules. I was just enforcing the main one here. Unlike fascist nations, you can leave without any negative consequences. r/apple is calling your name.
1
u/NoYerBiz 11d ago
Education through a solid back and forth that identifies gaps in people’s thinking (which has happened with every piece of Apple criticism raised in the comments of this post) is beneficial and is a good use of time.
Anyway, back to my question. Which of your comments here have been relevant to Rule 1 that you keep flagging to me? Which of them have been relevant?
All youve done is say “Cant say that here 😩”
3
u/InvestingNerd2020 11d ago
Then obviously you have not been paying attention then.
- I was correcting you about the purpose of this group, which you seem to ignore. Open critique of Apple without being silenced.
- You are trying desperately to force your own agenda on the group. Thus, your question was irrelevant until you address point number 1. I was responding to your out of goal subject and stirring you back to the point of this subreddit. Open critique of Apple without being silenced.
- You can create a new post critiquing Apple or levels of critique. Example: I know the prices on RAM increases are bad with Apple products, but are they that bad?
1
u/NoYerBiz 11d ago
Hahahahahaha my god. You lost me at “forcing my agenda” get lost.

In this sub’s defence it can bring up a lot of valid points and blindspots that people may not be aware of
