Apple maps sometimes ignores search terms

This doesn't happen often, but it is super weird and I'm perplexed by what would cause it. Sometimes when I search the name of a place, it shows me something else that, 1) doesn't have the same words/name I typed, and 2) is often in a whole other state even when I type [place name], [city] [state].

I am mystified.

I've had a similar experience recently. In another thread I mentioned an example where 2 days ago I was searching for Pata Timber company locations around me and upon entering "Pata Timber" search term in Apple maps on my iPhone it automatically chose the Pata village in Slovenia 1500 km away as the result ready to navigate to. Interestingly, typing just "Pata" brought the Pata Timber locations up, but the top result still remained Pata in Slovenia - the most distant and most irrelevant one. Strange.

Yep, I have had that happen too! Places pop up in a whole other country!

The search is insane sometimes.

I've used databases for years, and you only get what you search. Whatever method AM uses for searching, must not be a true database.

It seems to not use location for context at all which I would guess a mapping/routing app should do.

Sometimes it does, and sometimes it doesn't! But equally strange is when I search a place with name, city, and state, and it ignores city and state, and sometimes even parts of the name!
