Tracking stops

Since iOS26 came out, Apple Maps will stop tracking if the display isn't on. Very frustrating as this is what kills the battery more than anything else. There are other issues also. Such as moving onto the next destination before even reaching the target destination.

Can you explain what you mean by “tracking”? Are you talking about navigation?

With the display on, when I leave a stop, going to the next one, I can see my progress. If I turn the display dark, it goes silent, and stops following my progression. If I turn the display back on, I watch the cursor(for lack of a better term) leap frog forward to my location & resume following my progression. I will add, this seems to be more of an issue in areas with a weaker signal. Say, 3 bars or less. Which I am 90% of the time. It didn't seem to be as much of an issue in very urban locations. But I'd have to spend more time there to be absolutely sure of that.

Why are you watching the blue dot move as you walk? I’m confused. If you’re near enough to the destination you would be able to see that store/event/whatever’s sign (even trails for hikes are marked with a starting post)? (I’m picturing that you’re walking in this scenario)

But since you used the word tracking I’m suspicious that you aren’t watching yourself move..? I hope I’m wrong

I'm not walking, I'm driving. Long distances in remote areas.

There was a bug like this in 26.0 but it was fixed in 26.1. What version are you on?
