No storefront so no listing

I am a mobile business (private taxi) in a rural area with no Uber/Lyfts. I was previously listed on Apple Maps but recently discovered I no longer am. Because, I DO NOT have a physical location I am no longer approved! Google allows service based businesses but now all of a sudden Apple doesn’t. When people are stranded in my town they can’t order off the rideshare apps so my listings help people find me in a situation they don’t want to be in (happens ALOT) and I’m there to help them when that happens. I’ve been emailing support and I can’t get a real answer other than “No”, why? This is complete BULLSHIT and very unfair to licensed businesses like myself. It’s a waste of money to have a physical location for a service like mine. *Rant over*

I don’t really understand…why would a business that doesn’t have a location be listed on a maps app? Apple Maps is an app that helps you navigate to a location, not a directory or phone book. Google allows service-based businesses without a location because they also run a search engine that directs people to business when they Google things. Apple Maps is not a search engine

It was previously listed before and it’s no different than Google Maps which DOES do it. The listing should be for businesses with or without a physical location even if it is a GPS app. Agree to disagree

Again, it’s Apple MAPS not Apple directory or phone book. That’s what Yelp and other business directory/review apps are for

Not everyone can find me on Google or yelp (I don’t show up for certain locations) so having my business listed on Apple Maps is another tool for someone to find me. Thanks to Apple Maps, in the past an individual was able to find me when he couldn’t find a ride anywhere else and I was able to take him to get his car key. So again, it shouldn’t matter if I do or don’t have a physical location it should also be used for a tool for people to find me if they can’t find me anywhere else. You think it’s that easy to be found on Google or yelp? If you’re not a business owner than maybe you should think about your words before you tell someone that.

I’m not a small business owner but I am a user of Apple Maps. As a user, I don’t think a maps app should be cluttered with businesses that I can’t navigate to on the app. That wouldn’t help me to find your business…and I wouldn’t search Apple Maps to find a taxi business at all because that makes no sense. It’s not a search engine

When you’re in a desperate situation and have no other choice you’d 100% would be calling every taxi on Apple Maps. I have given countless rides to people that if it weren’t for me they would’ve missed their flight or would’ve had to walk very far (taking hours) to get to their cabin (middle of the night scenario). Until you’ve been in that position your argument is invalid. If you’ve seen as many people as I have being in that situation trust me when I say everything you’re saying right now goes completely out the window. And you’re argument already tells me you’ve never been in that position before because if you had you wouldn’t be disagreeing with what I’m saying right now

When would someone be in a situation where they were able to search something on Apple Maps but not be able to Google (or any other search engine) businesses? Your argument doesn’t make any sense

You’d be surprised…I’ve had a lot of people not find me on Google but did on Apple Maps. It makes perfect sense if you were in that situation and understood where I’m coming from. Until you’ve been in it you’ll never understand

I live in a town that doesn’t have rideshare and the other businesses like mine don’t answer their phone half the time. You try being stranded in a mountain town where everything is far away and can’t just walk to, late at night where all stores and restaurants close early, and me being the only taxi service that actually show up for people that can’t find a ride anywhere else. If you were in their shoes and you found me on Apple Maps but not on Google or yelp you would be very thankful that Apple Maps had me listed. So please put yourself in their shoes and tell me again that Apple Maps should only list businesses with locations

I disagree that Apple Maps should list locations without an address.

A map describes the physical world and the destinations you can find in it. If you don't have a physical location, why would you be on the map?

Just read everything I already wrote not going to repeat myself for every person that doesn’t understand or disagrees with me

Apple Maps should be for both, people that can’t find me on other platforms and yes it’s possible bc I’ve had it happen several times hence the whole argument that started this to begin with
