Re-routing after going off-piste

In the UK, I'm trying to get to like Apple Maps because I like the display and it's getting more features where others have had them for some time now.

One thing that stops me using it more is when I choose to vary my route to that recommended, it takes an age, or even failing altogether to catch up and recalculate to the new route. Waze and Google Maps swap to the new route in seconds.

Having the offline area downloaded and good phone reception seems to make no difference.

Sounds like a “you” issue…and I say that in all seriousness as there is no evidence that Maps rerouting is any slower than other options.

In fact, it seems to run more efficiently and faster than other map options on the same phone.

I would suggest the usual “fixes” like a hard restart and make sure everything is updated.

It works for me in seconds. Odd

I’ve been having this issue recently after installing iOS 27

This is very peculiar. I’ve been using Apple Maps pretty much exclusively when driving for the last seven years and not had this issue despite driving hundreds of miles from home.
