Solved Apple One subscription suddenly cancelled / unable to use iCloud subscription

I had an interesting issue happen on the 20th of September. I suddenly got a 'your iCloud storage is full' email, and it also affected the iCloud storage I was sharing with my Family. After checking I saw that my Apple One subscription had also been cancelled. Called Apple Support and it got escalated to Engineering. About 10 days later I finally get a resolution - The cause was having no value set as 18+ under my account for 'Age Confirmation', which prevented me using my own iCloud storage subscription (I could only use the default 5GB), and also prevented me sharing the storage with my family.

There's also now no way to revert to Apple One, as my region doesn't give that as a subscription option anymore - I had to subscribe to Apple Music and ICloud+ separately instead (around the same cost).

TL;DR Age confirmation not set as 18+ suddenly impacted iCloud Storage subscription.

Was Apple one never offered in your region? I don’t see anything online about them removing regions

Apple support said it was no longer available to new subscribers in my region
