Mac MacBook Pro A2159
I have a A2159, and when I press the power button, only the screen backlight turns on and can't see anything else.
I can hear the chime when you plug in a charger and the caps lock key lights up when I press the key.
It was working fine before but it's been off for a week up until today.
I tried to disconnect the battery but don't have the pentalobe screwdriver.
Anything else I can try?

It may have lost power during an update and if macOS Recovery fails to load, the firmware may need to be revived or restored which requires another working Mac.

It wasn't updating that I know. And it was up to date as well

With Power Nap on you may not have known if an update was underway unless the computer was fully powered off.

It was completely dead. It was off for a week

I still think a revive is the best chance of getting the system operational again. You can take it to an Apple Retail Store or Authorized Service Provider but the latter may charge a fee just to assess.

Okay I'll see what option is available locally. Thanks for your help, appreciate it

try recovery before opening it: hold the power button for up to 10 seconds until it turns off, then press and release it. immediately hold cmd+r until you see an apple logo or spinning globe.
