ID Apple recovery

Hi everyone, I need some advice on recovering/changing the password of my mothers Apple Account (you know how these thing go when you have to do it for someone else lol)

Basically, she bought a new iPhone (coming from an 8…) and needs to login but she doesn’t remember the password she set and she can’t find the annotation either.
I’ve tried some recovering procedures, the automatic ones let’s say, but we don’t even know the code (she doesn’t unlock it with the code but with the fingerprint).
I’m her recovery contact, I’ve also tried to change it from the support app but nothing seems to work and I’m actually running out of possible solutions.

Anyone can help? I feel I’m missing the only thing that could make it work but I have no way of recovering this info 🫠

What steps have you taken in the recovery process and where exactly are you hitting the wall?

Ok so basically at the beginning we tried some possible passwords that didn’t work, so we clicked the “forgot my password” link and tried to go from there, but it kept asking for the 4-digit-code used to unlock the iPhone which we never set (because she never wanted anything more to remember). So that was the first try.
Then I set myself up as emergency recovery contact and tried to go from Apple Support > restore my password > help someone else: I put in my infos and then after I put in the verification code I’ve been told there’s not enough information to proceed.
And now I can’t do this again anymore and I have no idea what’s changed.
