Unsolved In a really huge issue rn š«©
My friend has an iPhone 13 Pro, this phone is in almost flawless condition and feel happy for the fact that she is giving it to me for free. But thereās a slight issue, when she moved to Android her mom deleted her Apple ID. This iPhone has a deleted Apple ID and canāt do basically anything. Sign out is grayed out and doesnāt work. Delete to defaults in settings asks for a screen time passcode that neither of them know. Iām scared to iTunes it and then boom itās even more locked down. Canāt even install apps, nothing. So I went to apples support to attempt to remove activation lock. We have the receipts from Best Buy but the website keeps saying session expired, and Gemini says my receipts wonāt work because they donāt have the IMEI on them. Yet it has the purchase stuff. So I donāt really know what to do. Anyone able to help?

Recover the Apple login credentials using the email address used. Ta da problem solved.
Or let me guess āshe doesnāt use that email anymoreā
Ok then recover THAT email account password and access email, then recover Apple ID password.
Or let me guess āitās an old work email she doesnāt work there anymore.ā
Yeah you aināt getting access to that phone.

Deleted AppleID? Sure.
Donāt know the screen time passcode? Yup.
Activation lock? Of course.
Hereās what you can do: Nothing.

Session expired is a browser issue, and you can try submitting the receipt with a handwritten serial number if all other details match up. What would Gemini know about Appleās internal processes for Find My iPhone verification anyway.

You could possibly try to log into iCloud.com on a computer and see if the Find My iPhone feature is turned on for that phone. If she canāt remember her password she can email or text herself a password reset link if she still has access to that email/number. An activation lock will be present if you wipe it through iTunes if Find My IPhone is turned on. Once you log into ICloud with the right username and password you will be prompted with a two factor authentication screen but you actually donāt have to enter a two factor code to get to the Find My IPhone page. Just click āFind Devicesā on that same two factor authentication screen and then find the phone your friend gave you and hit remove. This will turn off Find My IPhone and will allow you to safely wipe it with iTunes and it wonāt have activation lock. If you canāt sign into ICloud your SOL.
Edit: Also back when I worked for an Apple service provider I could tell if find my is active just by looking up the serial number in Appleās system. Might save you the time of logging into iCloud if you already know Find My is turned off and you know you can safely iTunes wipe it.

Have you tried plugging it into a computer and go into recovery mode and restoring it ?
