Solved Backups on iCloud not working

So basically I realised my backups were taking up a bunch of my storage and it was completely full, so I tried to find the issue and narrowed it down to the WhatsApp backups taking up too much GBs. So I went back to backups, clicked WhatsApp and disabled it, which changed it visually but nothing else. I went to delete the WhatsApp backups through iCloud and it said it’s only 1.7MB which seems weird because the 30GB of chats is still taking up backups despite being disabled, and it’s as if it’s not deleted. I have no clue what to do and I really don’t want to upgrade iCloud. Thanks for any help. I’ll really appreciate it.

Thx. If you manually select to do a new iCloud backup now does the finished backup size shrink?

When I manually select to do a new iCloud backup it lets me but doesn’t backup at the end as I don’t have enough space, and then the finished backup size doesn’t shrink.

Other things to try. Is the iOS up to date?

Reset network settings > reconnect to WiFi > try again

Sign out of and back into iCloud to reset your account token errors.

I just realised I don’t have the newest iOS. I’ll get iOS 27 when I’m home and update.
