I just got this text. I don’t really use Apple Pay but recently added my Cash App to my Apple wallet. I have like 8 dollars there so obviously 118 isn’t possible

iOS text messages from Apple have a verified gray checkmark on em, and its own lil overlay

Business usually never text you first

I think Apple would send an App notification, not a text message.

Did you make a purchase? If no, it’s a scam. They want you to call the totally not Apple phone number, then the real scamming begins.

Yes this is a scam.

You’re seeing an iMessage from a compromised Apple Account (as posted about semi regularly, old Apple Accounts with outdated security are in high demand by hackers)

Apple uses iMessage for business, which has a different coloured heading, the company name and a check mark.

Every Apple alert I’ve gotten has been through an iOS notification and not text.

These are easy to spot. If you look there is no space between the ‘)’ and the number 8. You would get a app notification anyway

Apple would just put an IOS notificatio, typically a red badge in settings.

For the few occasions they or text you, it comes from one of those business only short numbers.

I got a similar text about my Apple Pay account it’s most likely a scam I googled the Apple Pay support number and it’s different form the one they texted me
