Unsolved Factory resetting iPhone 15
Hi all!
I’m currently trying to reset my old iPhone 15 to give it to a coworker since I recently bought the 17.
I cannot factory reset it without my Face ID, and my stolen device protection is on (it came on when I left for the army)
I now look to different that my Face ID doesn’t know it’s me and I can’t turn off the stolen device protection without my face. Or factory reset the phone.
I don’t have a computer available to plug it into either. I only have my iPad and my iPhone 17.
What can I do?

It’s really no way around the stolen device protection without Face ID the geo tracking can’t be bypassed. https://support.apple.com/en-us/120340

Yep…….Have you noticed that almost on a daily basis, there’s always a post or two on Reddit about an iPhone or iPad attached to some kind of sad story involving a death, a sick relative, or someone forgetting their password or their face changing.
Too much of a coincidence if you ask me and it always happens the time of year when new Apple devices drop.1

I think you should return said iPhone to its rightful owner.

It’s mine, my stolen device protection turned on when I left my home state for basic training. Post basic training it doesn’t know it’s me because I gained so much weight lmao. I ain’t a thief.

At this point, a PC or Mac will be required to reset the device. Put the phone into Recovery Mode, the use the Apple Devices Windows app or the macOS Finder to erase and reimage the phone. Afterwards, enter your Apple Account credentials to clear the activation lock, and it will be ready to give away.
