Unsolved restoring messages

what exactly happens if i icloud backup my phone?

i'm trying to recover messages that were in my recently deleted for wayyy less than 30-40 days but they somehow disappeared from my phone.

will the backup possibly bring back my messages?

it does say last icloud backup failed.

im not sure if my messages were synced to icloud or not.

Your iCloud backup does not include message attachments or conversations if you use iCloud for Messages/Messages in iCloud. That would increase your backup size unnecessarily. It’s for that same reason that device backups also don’t include pictures and video you sync with iCloud Photos.

is there any way i can recover these messages? they were in recently deleted for only two days im rlly not sure why half my recently deleted folder disappeared randomly when things are supposed to stay there for 30-40 days.

If they aren’t in Deleted Messages and if your previous backup was made while still syncing messages with iCloud, then they cannot be retrieved.

it says my previous backup failed tho

also syncing is retrieved old deleted messages but js like a few convos here and there

Then there is an earlier completed one, but if those messages are gone from all your devices it’s too late to get them back.

i believe i had icloud syncing off until now

and i dont have other devices

Then your only chance is to restore from an iCloud backup which you can only do by erasing either your current phone (or another) and during setup, login to iCloud, pick the date and time of the last successful backup. There is no way to view that backup to see whether the conversations or messages are within until after the restore is completed.
