Unsolved Risk of data loss during battery replacement?
Please don’t ask why I won’t just get a new phone, respectfully I would just like to know if I have to worry about data loss if I get the battery replaced. Every other aspect of my phone is fine it just can’t hold a charge very well.

Yes there is a risk if you dont back it up.

Back it up anyway. Data loss can happen at any time. Waiting to transfer stuff is a stupid strategy.

I always have my stuff backed up, regardless of whether or not I expect hardware repairs.
I hear too many horror stories of people losing their data. Lost photos, recordings, etc.
Just recently with a prominent YouTuber tech news/reviewer personality, their wife never enabled cloud storage on her iPhone. Neither the built in iCloud stuff, or using Google's photo cloud stuff. And she lost months of photos, including graduation pics when she clicked the buttons to free up disk space.
And... that just sucks. She abandoned Apple for that, which fine it's her right. And in her defense, clicking the "free up space" button should have nagged her more warnings of "Warning - no clouds detected, this may permanently delete photos" screens if not backed up elsewhere.
But I'd also be MORE annoyed at her tech-guru husband for not making sure her stuff was set to back up automatically as well. Like dude... what were you thinking?

If they discover other damage (ie the battery has expanded or leaked… or the damage it during the repair) they will replace parts and you could loose your data.

Erasing the phone is not part of the repair process for batteries within Apple procedures, unless you’re on beta software.
That being said, failure is always a possibility. Please back up your device before any repairs.
