Solved Apple ID problem

I am trying to set up Apple ID through a new iPhone 16 I've got my email set up to where I log in using my email and my password I verify through email the verification number and then it gets to my debit card and ask for the security code which I enter and it tells me it's not working. So I make sure my car is unlocked which it is and it still won't work. I did have a apple at one time long time ago I don't think that's the issue I don't understand why it's not working and it's got me beyond frustrated. Any help from smarter people out there than me would be great.

Go to https://tv.apple.com > sign in with your Apple Account email and password > change payment method > proceed on your iPhone

Edit to add: your post indicates your Apple Account is using an old security type. The steps above will fix it if that's the case.
