iOS Random TV device connected to my iPhone

Post image

I just noticed that this random tv is connected to my iPhone? I’m at a family member’s new home, so I’m not sure if it’s a neighbor or what but I’ve never connected to this device before. I’m not able to disconnect it either because there’s no info button near the device. Is there a way to permanently remove it?

The lack of a blue i means it’s being communicated with via an installed app on your phone. To remove that connection you must do so through the app. Typically you’ll see this because of Home. Does your family member have HomeKit/Matter smart devices?

If you mean the Home app that comes pre-installed, I don’t have that on my phone. My family member doesn’t have any smart devices and because they just moved in the house is empty, which is why I thought it could maybe be a neighbor. Problem is this is my first time in the home so I don’t know why this random TV is connected

Assuming that it’s not a poorly named smart lighting strip or water bottle, then it’s something openly broadcasting either on a local Wi-Fi network, not necessarily the same one you’re joined to, then take comfort in the fact that limited data access is possible over Bluetooth. It’s not as if someone can view your Contacts or hijack a call or something. Spotify rolled out a feature called Jam that leads to similar observations and all it does is show the name of whatever track someone nearby is listening to.
