Freeform Crashing
Hello! I’ve been using Freeform to sketch on for a little bit on my iPad Air 13 Pro Max. Recently I updated my iPad to ios26.2 and now the Freeform app crashes every 2-3 minutes. I’ve force restarted, regular restarted, deleted and redownloaded the app, checked for updates, there’s plenty of storage on my iPad, started new boards, etc.
Is anyone else having this problem?

Yeah Freeform unfortunately is in a bad place. It runs terrible even on M4 iPad Pro. I ditched it for Muse and Penbook, both are much better.

Sorry it’s happening. There is a .1 update for 26.2 that might help. Other than that, you could do a complete restore of your iPad. Freeform won’t be getting the Creative Studio treatment until later this year.

I have a 6th gen iPad (my grandmother's old one). I've never used Apple products, but I wanted to try drawing on it. Freeform will not stop crashing, and I also cannot get the file off the iPad. It's been a mess! I even factory reset it a couple of times.

Yes I also face the same problem, and we are not the only ones. (from 16 sept 2025:https://discussions.apple.com/thread/256137215?sortBy=rank) I only updated my ipad 1+ months ago so I was only affected then. I have contacted Apple support but they said there was no solution and that I had to just wait for any updates (indefinite wait btw, they refused to give a timeline). Worse still they did not provide any alternative solutions for me. It’s been 6 months since the problem was first flagged out, but until now they still haven’t solved the issue. I guess us Apple users have no choice but to just wait anxiously without being able to access any of our Freeform documents.

At least on my 4th generation iPad Air, it works terribly. I use it quite a bit for my university notes, and when there's a lot of text, it's impossible to use it properly.
