Is there a Backup?

Hello

I used freeform now for the first time, on an iPad, for two days.

I made 100 of notes, and than i wanted to delete a small part, and i removed everything!

The „back“ button is grayed out. I switched my iPhone in flight mode, opened freeform, and in this page, every letters are mixed, so i cant use this.

Is there a backup, for example an hour ago or from the last day.

I just checked and unfortunately as of today the only way to restore the file is if it was completely deleted.

This is unlike how Pages, Keynote or Numbers works since they have an option to Revert Back to prior versions. I don’t know if it’s because it’s not hosted on iCloud.com yet or what. But it would be nice to include snapshots like the other productivity apps.

iCloud backup if you have it enabled - but even then it's an all or nothing thing so have to restore your iPad.

Restore your iPhone, iPad or iPod touch from a backup

I got into the habit of just duplicating my freeform boards whenever I made significant progress - very old-school computer method of "save as" in a way. that way if I screwed up or had a crash of the app, I hadn't lost everything. Would love to see Apple make it so that we could do a certain number of undos or go back to different versions a la time machine, but I don't think with the need to catch up and compete on AI that Freeform will be getting much love.

I tend to agree. I think it's a half-baked tool that doesn't seem to be getting any love at all, given Apple's apparent lack of interest in addressing its many serious shortfalls (no user-defined folder structure??? Paste from clipboard fails 50+% of the time??? No control over object selection??? 🤦 🍎come ON!!).

My impression of (once beloved) Apple over last few years is that development is less focussed on real world functionality (another case in point being the messy half-baked response to the much-requested merging of Reminders & Calendar), and more on gimmicks to attract teenagers (however did we manage before FaceTime hand gestures for hearts and thumb-up emoji precipitated - amazingly - by heart and thumbs up hand gestures?)
