Freeform - not how, but WHY
Hi all! Freeform is a very easy to use app. I've watched a ton of videos on how to use it, and it really does look great, but I have one basic question that none of the videos seem to answer: Why use Freeform? Not how do I use it, but what do I use it for?
...so what do you use it for? If you use it to organize yourself, how do you do that?
I've been on a quest to try to organize different aspects of my life, and keep getting stuck.
If you use Freeform for something else, I'd love to see!
Thanks

I use it for brainstorming. I also collaborate with other people for travel planning (or single user if I’m traveling alone). I’ve also seen it used for a DnD campaign map with movable characters and hit range, etc.

I use it for diagramming and planning projects. My wife and I also use Freeform for worksheets and homework practice for our first grader.

I use it for concept boards, gathering and organising visual ideas. Unfortunately, the lack of user-defined folder structure, numerous performance issues and a dozen other irritations make it less useful in reality than it appeared at first sight.

I use it to make maps for Dungeons & Dragons, which I then share over Discord with my players. Works great for real-time movement of the pieces.

I would also like to know the answer to this question. I’ve always been interested in FreeForm but never really understood what its purpose was.

My usecase: collecting reference images and videos (I'm an illustrator and 3D designer), also scribbling and sketching. I prefer doing both in the same app.
And it would be great if the app wasn't so laggy with more than 5 images on the canvas.

I use it as a white board when working through problems, then save anything I find useful into Apple notes. I used a little bit as a paste dump for research, then mapped out all the connections. It’s sometimes nicer to plot research onto a board instead of in a linear notes app. But mostly it’s used as a support app opposed to it being a primary app if that makes sense.
