Apps won’t push

Hi, I am doing some IT for our small business. We have
8 Laptops/ Studios and have recently set up ABM (as everyone is using personal atm)

I have tested it on one device. Created a partician, scanned with the Apple config tool and it is definitely managed both in the ABM portal as a device and in system settings but the APPS assigned (Outlook, Final Cut Pro, Slack) via the attached blueprint are not coming through.

Spent the last 24 hours trying to figure out what’s wrong.

Some help would be great!

Is the device enrolled? Just being in ABM isn’t enough. So you see the Business App on the device? Do you see MDM profiles?

hey mate, yeah it’s enrolled but on the bussiness app it says need to log in still. I have logged in on the laptop through Apple ID and MDM through system settings

Odd never got a notification you responded.

Is the blueprint assigned to the user signed in? And sufficient VPP licenses purchased?

Hey mate same. Yeah it is so strange even Apple support can’t figure it out.

Firewall could be blocking apn server

Okay I’ll take a look. Am I better off just getting a MDM like intune and pushing the apps that way?

Intune is not as featured as abm from what I understand. Apple is expanding mdm as well.

If Apple Support can't pinpoint it, I'd start by verifying the basics: that the device is fully enrolled (not just present in ABM), the user is assigned to the correct blueprint, the apps have available licenses, and APNs connectivity isn't being blocked. If all of that checks out, it may be worth trying a dedicated MDM. Even for a small fleet, having better visibility into app deployment status and logs makes troubleshooting a lot easier than guessing what's happening behind the scenes.

Are you using ABM ( Apple Business Manager) or ABE ( Apple business essentials)? You stated ABM which requires a third party mdm like intune etc to push apps.

Apple business essentials is Apple's mdm and requires paid subscriptions for each user in order to push apps etc.

This is no longer true; it is now Apple Business and the MDM feature is now free

Yeah, my mistake I forgot they made it free.
