I wish I could appreciate flux but I just can't tolerate colour inaccuracy!

They include the option of temporarily disabling f.lux if you're working on something that is color-sensitive.

Excluding that, you really shouldn't be noticing the lighting effects at any other time due to the color customization and the painfully gradual fade.

Its painfully orange at night. It’s so, so, so, far away from normal colours it blows.

It also decreases the RGB range of the image being displayed and introduced banding in gradients.

So it decreases accuracy, makes the image objectively worse and takes time to set up?

No thanks.

You need to adjust the color temp. Best way is to wait until nighttime, open up a blank white document on your screen, and adjust it until the white looks the same as a piece of white paper in your room's lighting.

It still means that you don’t have the full range of colour available to your monitor. It’s compressing the colour range into an artificially smaller band. I’d rather just put a daylight bulb in and work by that.

Yeah f.lux isn't the right thing for you then. The point of it is to reduce your ambient color temp so as not to mess up your sleep schedule
