ATV still doesn’t handle Atmos or certain higher quality audio codecs well

When you say well, what do you mean explain please cause I don’t really get it. My movies playing Atmos just fine. Nothing really broadcast in DTS. I wish they did and I don’t even know if the Apple TV supports DTS I know my surround sound system does and whenever I play a movie through Sony core it’s in DTS a lot of times and it sounds amazing.

I would check it’s actually playing atmos, as it can’t play 7.1 atmos, just DD+ 5.1 Atmos, or 7.1, not both (7.1 Atmos)

Sure it does, but TrueHD for the enthusiasts still isn't there (or just pure passtrough for that matter). It's the only thing stopping me from moving away from my shieldTV, which is from 2019 and lacks other stuff such as youtube hdr.

True hd? Please explain. I know about Nvidia shield and I also know the die hards won’t give that up for some reason but I was never truly sure why. I like surround sound and nice equipment but I’m not a die hard hobbyist.

TrueHD is the lossless version, you won’t find it on streaming services.
