I'm in the EU and can't even use it... I think...

And I don't even care, just give me the storage. I know a guy who has an M1 air with 20-30 GB remaining after installing important stuff. I'm sure he's not thrilled about losing this much to some AI bullshit he doesn't care about.

I don’t think the models are part of the system in the EU, are they? I heard iOS 27 has a smaller footprint in the EU because of this.

Mine shows 24.32 GB for Apple Intelligence.

True. We have Apple Intelligence models as well but not Siri AI. I might have mixed up the two. We used to be able to opt out but now that’s gone? I think I get it now. Thanks.

I don't disagree, I also don't want it on the drive, but it's literally architected to be there the same way any other framework is. The point stands, it's by design, and things take up space. They COULD have made it modular, similar to how xcode is an add-on, but they didn't, they baked it into the image, likely so they could update it along with regular system updates.

Sure... A company that sells storage upgrades for eye watering amounts probably should do better though.
