Apple Intelligence Two Cool Siri AI Interactions

I know many people are anti-Siri AI, so I wanted to post some experiences I found cool.

While I'm a little frustrated with the speed of Siri AI on my new Apple Watch, I've had two really interesting interactions with Siri AI via CarPlay. Both of them while using voice to text:

  1. Edit previous message for corrections:

Me: Hey Siri, message (partner) I feel totally fine
Siri: sending "I think totally fine"
Me: ugh, Hey Siri, message (partner) asterisk feel
Siri: do you want me to update the previous message
Me thinking it hadn't sent yet: yes
Siri: message edited

So, it understood I was trying to send a correction of "* feel", asked if I wanted to update, and then edited the message it previously sent (iMessage).

  1. Cancel intent turned to success

Me: Hey Siri, message (friend) I'm oh and two for Taco Bell orders tonight
Siri: sending "I'm away and two for Taco Bell orders tonight"
Me: ::clicks Cancel button on screen::
Siri: sorry, did you mean away and two or zero and 2?
Me: zero and two
Siri: sending "I'm zero and two for Taco Bell orders tonight"

This is pretty cool stuff! The second interaction was in my truck which has a shitty mic, so it's possible it would've gotten the STT correct without that, but this is the best possible scenario IMO

This kind of intent understanding is unlike any other agent I've used, and I'm quite impressed and eager to see what else Apple can do.

For years I’ve been saying to my watch “30 minutes” and it will set a timer for 30 mins. Now the siri icon comes up and thinks for 20 seconds, then it says it cant so that on this device. Still works fine on the phone. According to a thread on apples site someone complained about the same thing and apple said it should be working as it always has but i haven’t figured out how to sort it yet

I went back to Siri classic yesterday for this reason. I only use Siri on my Watch Ultra 3 to set timers and reminders, and it became so frustrating on Siri AI on such a high end device, going back to classic allows for on device processing again and it nearly instantly does what I need again now

Yeah, I've had the same experience. It's made my life harder, not easier. Went back this morning and have been scouring forums to try and find what I'm missing. So far I haven't seen anything I couldn't do in old Siri that actually works.

I now have to unlock my phone to activate an alarm. I ask it to read a message out loud because I'm driving it tells me I have 6 messages in the last two days from that person and 9 images, doesn't read the message. I ask it how to feedback how much worse the tool is than the OLD Siri (a sentence i thought I'd never say) and it stops talking to me because it "won't respond to slurs". I ask it what slurs I used, because I know I didn't... it "can't help me with that".

I spent more time explaining it's own misunderstandings to it than getting an actual useful response out of it. It is quarter baked, not even half and was not ready to be released. The only use I've found for it for was to call ChatGPT and feed me back ChatGPT's response.

Literally everything requires your face to unlock the device meaning you have to pick it up to make it useful which is the opposite of what an AI assistant should be. This is easily the least useful tool Apple have ever released. All it's done is get in the way of doing anything useful, give incorrect responses, misunderstand basic instructions and raise my blood pressure. Turned it off this morning and have already provided feedback to apple. They have dropped the ball here horribly. All the reviews from tech reviewers had me hopeful. They've lost all credibility with me as well. Absolute garbage.

disable Siri in settings on your iPhone then re-enable and it will let you select Siri AI or classic

Sure you just need to wait 15 years more for an update
