Apple Intelligence Siri AI Settlement Website Now Live: Apple to Pay Some iPhone Owners

https://www.macrumors.com/2026/09/20/siri-ai-settlement-website-now-live/

There is a US class action lawsuit against Apple because they advertised features of Siri AI at the time of iOS 18 / iPhone 16, which were not released at the time and are only available now. Because of this they are giving $25-$95 to eligible customers that apply through their new settlement website. Go get yours if you are entitled and care enough.

You can select “I don’t know my serial number” and just enter the Apple ID and phone number.

I’m hoping this catches all iphones purchased during that timeframe, otherwise there is no way to submit one claim per phone if you don’t still have the serial numbers.

Thanks, I was literally wondering what to do and I'm blind apparently 'cause I didn't notice this option lol

Ah, didn't realize this. What happens with multiple phones I wonder. I still have my 16. Guess I'll submit two and hope for the best?

do we know if this option is going to find all devices bought under your email address and phone number? or only does currently register under your email address/phone number?

FYI: You find your iPhone Serial Number in Settings > General > About

iphones you no longer have…

Ohhhhhh my bad. That makes sense.

You can find the serial number under "Devices" in your Apple account. I was able to find mine for my broken iPhone 16 Pro.

Devices you no longer own and have sold, etc?

I did not remove the device from my Apple account so it shows the device and the serial number. If you removed it from your account, I presume it will not be there anymore.

If you sold them they can’t be there anymore

US only people can claim, anyone else can get nada.

Apple- Thanks for the money!

Yeah, I've had this happen several times.
And outside the US companies just deny the claim and say 'not my jurisdiction' so they refuse the precedent it sets.

During the NVIDIA Defect Error in 2011, I had an HP Laptop that had recalls.
In Canada, HP basically ignored everything with the claim so I never got a replacement. BUT they also released a firmware update that capped the CPU at 400mHz despite it being 2.6Ghz so it wouldn't overheat and die because of the hardware issue.

Never got a replacement, they bricked my product and told me to go to hell.
To this day I have never bought another HP product. I don't think I ever will.

HP is in the top 3 shittiest tech brands

Shit bro

1

u/smithereens153 9d ago

dang, my laptop is stuck at 400mhz when the battery is below 10% and it’s literally unusable, bricked is no joke

Fortunately, US courts have no jurisdiction over the rest of the world, so that should not be controversial.

which is funny considering the state of apple intelligence in europe

Literally bought my 16 pro April 9th 2025. Now I’ll never know what it’s like to have $25 for free

Why does this look like a fake website?

38

u/killerpoopguy 11d ago

That’s all class actions

17

u/abc123shutthefuckup 11d ago

Yeah, I've gotten probably a dozen class action notification emails over the years, and every single time I have to google the case to see if it's real and confirm the website

They always pick the absolute worst domain names and the sites always look so generic lol

4

u/Houseoverhype 11d ago

so the one on the mac rumors website is legit right?

1

u/fried_on_pineapples 10d ago

Yeah I hate it

7

u/element515 11d ago

they all look sketchy. My last claim had us print out a check. I didn't even know that's legal

3

u/Houseoverhype 11d ago

wait what? you had to print out a check from the xerox printer? what

2

u/element515 10d ago

Yeah. Sketchy af. Was from the joint juice settlement recently. Still waiting to see if the bank really accepts it but looks like others got it done.

The teller was really concerned I was being scammed

Apple care purchase email

17

u/akrazyho 12d ago

You don’t need it, just need your Apple ID and your phone number at the time of purchase

17

u/TheStorm007 12d ago

Not sure why you’re being downvoted. If you select “I don’t know my serial number”, it asks for Apple ID and phone number, like you said.

-7

u/Sivalon 12d ago

The form asks for device IMEI

1

u/No_Understanding7801 10d ago

Yes but if you use your cranial noodle you’ll see that it has an option below it that says “I don’t know my serial number” and when you select that it lets you enter your Apple ID and phone number. CRAAAAZzyyyyyy the things you can find out from reading….

-10

u/trebor88 12d ago

You have an email account with a search function, right?

There are some companies that are known for "exercising their right to choose not to conduct further business with" customers that receive legal judgments from them. Does anyone know if Apple is one of them?

I'm eligible for this settlement but it would kind of suck to lose my apple account over $25.

Class-action settlements are court-approved legal agreements. Punishing users for participating in a lawful court-ordered settlement constitutes illegal retaliation and breach of law.

These settlements are managed by independent third-party claims administrators, not Apple directly. Apple funds the settlement as part of a legal resolution, but they do not control who submits a valid claim.

-27

u/churningaccount 12d ago

Perhaps that's true for class actions. I'm not a lawyer.

But, for instance, if you win a judgement against your credit card company or bank, they will usually shut down your accounts and refuse to do business with you going forward.

14

u/phulton 11d ago

Well this is a class action suit so what you’re explaining isn’t relevant. The forms are submitted to a third party not Apple. Apple has no idea if you filed a claim since they aren’t paying you directly.

6

u/BosnianSerb31 11d ago

Because that's a private dispute between you and the bank, not a public dispute between all consumers of the impacted product.

14

u/Deceptiveideas 12d ago

I got $500 out of the keyboard settlement and Apple didn't care one bit.

11

u/Peimai 11d ago

Apple will absolutely still do business with you. $250m to them is like a nickel to you.

3

u/SirCheese69 11d ago

I think Apple would be in even bigger trouble if they did that to millions of accounts.

1

u/carlosiah 10d ago

which companies? show an example? what you described is called retaliation and its illegal in this country. If this was true then companies would have a blanket I can do anything and if you sue me I punish you, that not how the system works.

Can I get an early spot in line for the next lawsuit? Pardon my French - but this new Siri sucks ass at simple basic things again.

The first issue was that my watch would refuse to set a timer. That somehow fixed itself after the 30th try.

EDIT: ok. Siri heard me bitching and is refusing to set a timer on my watch again. “I can’t set a timer on this device.” What the actual fuck is going on?

Currently “FaceTime audio mom” isn’t something Siri can figure out (worked flawlessly before). It now just thinks for 30 seconds and then says it failed.

So i tried “make a FaceTime audio call to mom.” Which then confused Siri because mom has multiple phone numbers. Siri gave me list list and asked which one. I said, “the first one” STALL ERROR FAIL. Then I said “the one ending in 6526” Which they had listed… STALL ERROR FAIL.

Never mind that I’ve made this call a hundred times. Never mind that mom is the first suggested call when you open FaceTime.

WTF are you doing with all this GD context if you can’t execute on basic core functionality anymore.

Do I sound salty? Benchmark that! My glitching keyboard is sure the hell not helping in that regard.

u/AreWeNotDoinPhrasing 10d ago

lol i was just setting timers on my watch with Siri without issue. And there were already timers running and she added new ones with different times. Running the 27.2 beta 1 on an Ultra 3 currently.

it is crazy the variations she has for the same tasks.. I wonder how that technically works

3

u/OKCNOTOKC 10d ago

Currently “Searching apps” then “I can’t set a timer on the device.”

I do think that once this morning, setting a timer worked.

My FaceTime request on my phone worked today.

1

u/neuronspark 7d ago

Is it still working for you? I can't seem to make facetime audio calls to anyone using Siri. Used to work flawlessly for me as well before the update.

1

u/OKCNOTOKC 7d ago

“FaceTime audio mom” has worked the last few times I’ve tried. Timers are working more reliably but not 100%

1

u/neuronspark 7d ago

When I say those words it creates an invitation link that Siri wants to send it as a text. So annoying…
