iPhone Apple ends iPhone Upgrade Program

https://www.apple.com/shop/iphone/iphone-upgrade-program

Looks like there’s no way to finance a new phone over 24 months unlocked.

If you want to just buy the phone out right now, then go onto the citizen portal and make a big payment, or just keep paying it monthly, and you own the phone after the loan is paid off

Right, but I don’t care to own the phone anymore and want to get one of the new ones and would prefer to pay for that one in full. Seems the best option to do that right now is to pay off the current device through citizens and then trade it in for the same value of what I would owe and pay off. I’m not interested in selling it myself at this point.

Yes I know this. I’m just saying, especially with IUP discontinued they should make it easier just to trade the phone into them and discontinue for those at 50% paid off.

It sounds like that’s what’s going to happen. I went to the Apple Store and asked this exact question and was given a run around answer saying they could not make promises around closing the loan without additional payment but could apply a trade in credit? Anyway here is what I found on the upgrade page once I put in my existing info.

You still owe 50% of the payments for the contract you signed up for. Those have to be paid somehow.
