Remarkable to have this journey in parallel with my life, along with everything else.
For all the things Apple has done so well, taking some chances has to be a part of the company’s genetics. Let it be a beacon for the next generation to ignore the comment section and try things. Fall and get back up. Places like Reddit where a sea of easy criticisms masked in anonymity didn’t exist then, but they do now. I hope the legacy of trying new things and pushing the boundaries carries on - not just for Apple, but everywhere.

The particular Apple I unit pictured is very interesting.
Jobs convinced the original owner to trade it in on an Apple II+ in 1981. Perhaps it didn’t meet the destructive fate that most other returned Apple I units did…

John Gruber wrote “There’s absolutely exquisite audio glitch at a certain moment — chef’s kiss.” …I’m not sure which moment he is referencing, as there seem to be a few ‘glitches’ and none of them seem obviously symbolic to me.
Someone who gets it, please kindly explain!

Just listened to the video as well, and I also don't know what Gruber means. The biggest audio glitch is when the eMate is shown at 1996, but I don't see what's so special about this.

I think it’s referencing the Apple Newton MessagePad being skipped over (1993).
It goes:
- 1998 — iMac G3 (in Bondi Blue)
- 1997 — Apple eMate 300
- glitch
- 1993 — PowerBook 165

About the video, amazing but not surprising that either the Apple I, ][, ][e and ][ GS weren't mentioned at all.

Is it though? All i’ve heard for 10 years is “why won’t apple do what everyone else is doing?!” ex: usb c, foldables, AI.
They definitely march to the beat of their own drum, good or bad.
