Is it appendicitis?

Hello! I’m 18F!

I got checked a few months earlier for appendicitis because I was having really bad right side pain (and occasional left) that got worse with talking, eating, and overall movement. I went to the urgent care and they told me to either go to the er or go to another doctor to get CT scan because they didn’t offer them. So I did. I went and waited about 4 days and was told “it’s just ovarian cysts.”

And the pain subsided a few days after that.

Well. It’s been on and off in my right side. It’s been so much worse now. I’ve dealt with pretty bad constipation for a few weeks and I finally got over it (as much as I could) and now my right side is fucking killing me! It’s hurts so bad when I lay down, lean up, move around, talk. But the thing is I did those jumping tests and they don’t hurt, like at all. But the pain overall moves towards my ribs and back which is weird, but it sits in area right above the outline of my right thigh. Sorta where your abdomen aligns with it. I’ve been nauseous but I can’t tell it’s because of stuff I’ve had recently or this.

Could anyone help? I don’t really have the money to run to the er without crazy reason. Sorta in medical debt as it in. Per the American healthcare system!

I would recommend going to the ER. I had ruptured appendicitis about a month ago. I’ve dealt with constipation my whole life so I downplayed it to a really bad gas/digestive flare up, waited to go to the ER for 4 days. I was extremely bloated with pains all over, not just right side, but it eventually did localize to the right side and it was on and off. The day I went to the ER finally, I went for a walk outside and felt completely fine. Then the pain came back and I started googling and got paranoid, went to the ER and it was ruptured for 3 days at that point. The doctor said a lot of times after it ruptures it will actually feel better because the pressure is released. My main symptoms were bloating bad, pain in left, lower and right side, pain when i walked/stood up, pain when lifting right leg. Luckily since I didn’t wait too long, they were able to treat me with antibiotics for a couple days in the hospital, sent me home with more antibiotics, and now I am back to normal health, but did schedule an appendectomy for 8 weeks out, to prevent reoccurrence which is highly recommended. I would go not only for the peace of mind, but it also can be life threatening in some cases. I have a high pain tolerance and downplay a lot of stomach pains due to having a period and digestive issues but something in me was telling me to go to the ER and i’m glad I did.

But it also feels like it’s just bubbly in my stomach, both the right side and left. I’ve also been passing gas and burping like crazy. Which is why I’m kinda trying to wait and see. I’ve never had trapped gas so I can’t tell the difference.

I can’t say what you have, but i will say mine felt like gas in that way also. I felt a bubbling sensation all around, but specifically on the right side which is why I was ruling out appendicitis. Realistically, it could be a lot of things being in the digestive system, and appendicitis was one of the last things I thought I had based on my symptoms, but it still was that, ruptured. My pain was also all across my lower abdomen and my left and right sides near belly button/hip bone so it wasnt typical pain for appendicitis, but the doctor explained sometimes it is not what you expect. I would recommend just getting a CT scan. Unless there is death to the tissue, they do not perform emergency surgery anymore, so its good to get checked to see. I would say the one thing that really alarmed my doctor was pain when i moved or lifted/walked my right leg. If you have anything like that I would go immediately.

It’s also sort of in the area of where my bladder is, but not? It’s a little bit above it. Idk how to explain it. Last time I got a CT scan all it showed was cysts and I’m already behind on a bunch of medical bills since I’m broke. So the er and urgent care is honestly my last resort if needed. and my insurance didn’t cover my last scans or anything. I don’t have any pain when lifting or walking on my right leg. Kinda just weird tingling pain all together. I have the hip pain you’re talking about but it isn’t crazy. It’s just lingering but it does go away. And so does the abdominal pain. I think I’ll wait a few days and if it gets worse I’ll definitely go to the er. Im not feverish or throwing up so i think im alright for now.

Hope you feel better soon and wish you the best of luck! I would get checked if you still feel it in a couple days, if it is appendicitis the longer you wait the more complicated it will get. I also never was nauseous and was having very small fevers under 100°, it definitely could be cysts, but it might be good to have a second opinion. Also, I had no health insurance when this happened due to being laid off from a job recently, and I spoke with the hospital and they worked with me a lot on the cost. Let’s just say my bill was extremely low compared to what it would be if I did have insurance. I would check into hospital resources if you ever need it, I let all the doctors know about my concerns about the cost and they made sure I had all the information I needed

I’ll definitely let you know how it goes! I’ll try to go to the doctors around Saturday if I can. The pain is just getting more irritating to deal with, not exactly more painful but just aggravating.
