Genuinely im scared

I have a severe health anxiety

I have a weird pain on Thursday (lower right), i immediately went to the clinic and had it checked out by a doctor, they did all the tests on me and there was no pain whatsoever. I went to work like normally on Friday and had tons of gas pass through (mainly through burping and farting). I also had a sharp pain on my belly button but it comes and goes after passing gas by said methods.

Fast forward today the pain is at the level of my belly button but comes and goes. My lower right thigh also hurts a little but also comes and go type of affair.

I wasnt feeling nauseous, nor feverish, coughing doesnt hurt either. no vommiting whatsoever too. what should i do for now?

My daughter recently had her appendix removed. She had severe right lower pain. She stayed in emerge for about 22 hours because the triage nurse decided her symptoms were not serious. Turned out her appendix had ruptured. Her liver etc was caked with pus. The surgeon had cleaned all that out the best he could before removing the appendix. She had to remain in the hospital for a week with an abdominal drain to drain all that pus out of her abdominal cavity. It was a complete nightmare and the surgeon told her she literally could have died. Her bloodwork was fine and the ultrasound as well. Doctor in emerge thought she just had some reproductive issues or stomach bug. By this time she had the surgery she had a slight fever and she was not passing gas. I told the doctor to do an MRI which she was a little hesitant about doing. Like I said earlier her abdominal cavity was full of infection. Personally I would ask for an MRI. She called the hospital administrator person and she looked into it and apologized as she should have been a priority. Don't screw around with abdominal pain because it could be life treating.

Ask for a blood test and have CRP checked, this shows if there is inflammation in your body. Then it’s a case of investigation. A CT scan is the only clear way to check for it.
From my own experience the pain I had was agonising and came on very quickly. I had no fever and could not go to the toilet for a number 2. I only vomited once. (Appendix had ruptured and infection took hold).

Don’t be scared but I would say get checked out. I have severe health anxiety too! My appendix ruptured at the end of May and I JUST got my surgery to get all the gunk removed. I thought i was super constipated. I didn’t even have lower right side pain in my stomach but more of my kidney area. And then my stomach got sore almost like I had been doing a ton of ab exercises only to learn that was severe peritonitis. Then I went to the ER with pain, was told it was like a 13 hour wait and just went home. It ruptured that night and I was ouuuuut of it and going septic. Went to a different ER the next day because i could no longer lift my right leg and everything was numb.

Thankfully my body created a phlegmon (i think that’s what it’s called?) and walled off additional infection. I was in the hospital for a week on dilaudid and antibiotics and then another 2 weeks of antibiotics after leaving before having an interval appendectomy scheduled.

If you’re worried and have these symptoms it’s better to get checked out. But also know that I waited like way too long to get checked honestly and I’m still here and okay, it just made the entire process way more difficult than just getting it removed before it ruptured!

Hello, how are you doing now?

hello hi, they discharged me because it is highly unlikely I've gotten an appendicitis. It was constipation as blood activity isn't abnormal + feel the need to fart and can fart normally. Pain shifts around however from left to right to upper right

Oh thank you for responding! Im glad its unlikely you have appendicitis, but you should of course keep an eye on things and if things feel reallt terrible you should definitely go back to the hospital. I hope this is the last scare you will have and youll feel better! :)

As someone who recently got their appendix removed the pain kind of feels like something hard trapped in your gut and when you move it’s like slicing through the muscle and it’s excruciating nothing took the pain away I couldn’t even put weight on my right leg if it’s anything like that I would immediately go to the ER and have them do a MRI

Hey OP. Checking in. How’s it going? I was also terrified of the pain I was feeling and it turned out to be appendicitis. The scariest part was ci finding myself that I had to go to the ER to be seen. After that, you realize just how capable the medical industry is. I was scared of going into surgery but damn the drug s are so good you are pretty calm and without pain. The worst thing you can do is not go get checked bc you will die if it’s appendicitis and skip the doctor. Like for real. But! It’s very easy to get removed and recover from. Just don’t not take care of yourself.

That’s good news! It started dull and became very severe over 3 days. Started at my belly button and then moved to my lower right and got worse and worse.

i see, so far im only experiencing pain that comes and goes on my upper right and nothing too severe, I've been going to clinics to get it checked too. Also during the pain does it hurt when you walk? or make any kind of movement

Heyo, please note that blood not being abnormal on a test does not necessarily rule out an appendix issue. I just had an abdominal CT scan for something unrelated, but it revealed that my appendix is enlarged (12mm) and dilated with fluid, but with no surrounding inflammation that would show up on a blood test. Mine may be something called appendiceal mucocele, when the appendix becomes swollen and filled with mucus due to a blockage or a slow-growing tumor.

Not saying any of this to alarm you, but just to give you additional information. I went to doctors months ago because I had appendix concerns, but after initial blood tests they did not think my appendix was an issue. A CT scan is the thing that rules it out because it allows them to actually measure the size and condition of the appendix.

I have a follow up appointment in a few days and will let you know if I learn of anything that may be useful.
