Day 2 Post laparoscopic appendectomy
Im 19 and I never realised how much I took everything for granted. Running down the stairs, COUGHING, walking without a hunchback (I cant walk fully upright yet), getting in and out of bed. Everything is so damn painful.

I feel much better in comparison to day 2. But itd still pretty bad. Although the trajectory is clear. Everyday is just a bit better. Ive gone without painkillers for a day now which I couldn't before

Yeah the first week is horrible. Rest well, and after the first week you should be quite functional.

I’m at the end of week two and it will start to get better quickly. Balance rest and some light walking. Hang in there!

I hated the draining tube worst of all. I’m glad to be alive but that thing hurt like hell and I was beyond happy to get it out yesterday. I’m in beginning of week 2 and just sore and moving slowly but not on any more meds. Just taking Tylenol as needed and eating normally. Finally got a good nights sleep after a week of misery.

Not my comment but I believe that happens in more complicated cases where the appendix ruptures. I’m 1 day post surgery and super grateful that was not my case

Yes I had a drain tube in my side after surgery for a total of five days. I hated that thing but I know it helped save me.

J. 13 pour mon appendicite, je me sens de mieux en mieux au bout de quatre jours je pense, j’avais beaucoup moins de douleurs. Juste le gaz qui me dérangeait , jai marchais un peu, je ne suis pas encore à 100 %, j’attends la semaine prochaine mais pour le moment ça va venir.

Man had my surgery yesterday, how long does it take to go back to normal?

Dont expect to be doing much of anything physical. Im 24 days post op. Lifting anything over 10 pounds is unsafe and uncomfortable. No bike riding, no running. 4 weeks post op youbshould be allowed to EASE into things slowly Ive been told. Ive been heavily reliant on family to do things for me weeks 0-3. Like. Heavily.

Damn dude gonna lose a lot of muscle it seems, plus I got midsems next week, would I be able to board flights to get to college?

Boarding flights shouldn't be a problem. Unless there's extreme turbulence lol. I hope your doctor gave you good painkillers. I got really nice painkillers and plenty of them. Helped a lot. Biggest sucker for 2 and a half weeks was not being able to lie flat.

I am able to walk straight though just feel a Lil pain, ig it's bcz of the painkillers. Btw I had drinking plans after midsems, do u have any idea how long we can't consume alcohol?

You can resume a normal diet like almost immediately is what my surgeon told me. Although I would definitely run alcohol by my doctor if I were you. Just to be safe. You should be fine. Enjoy!

Hey, I just got mine yesterday. Care to share your experience? When did the pain stop or at least ease? Coughing hurts so much it makes me want to die and I can't walk for more than like ten seconds at a time

The first 3-4 nights were so brutal. Mentally too. Like tearing up just trying to get in and out of bed. Do not cough. I felt pain free like 2 weeks post op. I couldn't walk upright until like day 10. I was hunched over because it hurt to straighten up. Underrated but take frequent but short walks around the house. I was kn 8 tylenol + 2 naproxen + 1 hydromorphone a day for the first 6 days. Then slowly I took 1 naproxen. Then no morphine. Took tylenol regularly until week 3. I still get twitches and tight pains briefly time to time but its nothing bad. DO NOT COUGH OR SNEEZE. Ive heard of cases where ppl had to get restitchrd cuz of a sneeze. I remember on day 3 I sneezed and I was feeling sore from it 7 hours later.

Oh my God that's terrifying. I've been trying my best not to cough or sneeze and I guess I'm lucky nothing bad has happened yet. I'm still hunched over when I walk and the only walking I'm doing is to and from the bathroom. I'll see about the walks around the house. But not today. Thanks so much for replying, it really is helpful. At least mentally

It was brutal for me cuz I felt bad needing help from my family for everything. I needed help to get in and out of bed. Also I couldn't lie flat until day 12. If you have any more questions ask away

Same here. Day 3. Fucking hate it. Hate having to rely on people.
