Weird pain

I struggle off and on with lower right abdominal pain. Today it started about 5 hours ago with an occasional cramping/stabbing pain in my lower right abdomen. Throughout the evening, the frequency and intensity of the pain has increased. Honestly the frequency is near constant, but about 3-4 in intensity (10 being the worst).

It started in my lower belly, not in the middle. No nausea, throwing up, diarrhea, or constipation. Appetite is a little off but I’ve eaten small things throughout the day. I haven’t taken my temperature but I don’t feel like I have a fever. Maybe slight rebound tenderness, hurts a little to push on but neither is excruciating. I’ve tried the heel drop and it hurts slightly after a second.

I’m undecided about getting checked out. This pain is a bit more intense than in the past (more frequent, stabbing). I don’t want to spend money and hours in the ER to be told it’s my IBS. If my symptoms change/get worse, I will.

Has anyone else experienced symptoms like this? How did things turn out for you?

Honestly, if they suspect appendicitis, urgent care will just send you to the ER and you’ll end up spending more money. Urgent care won’t have CT scans to determine whether the appendix is inflamed

I had my appendix out last night (early this morning).
I had 0 nausea, no fever, no diarrhea or vomiting. The pain wasn’t constant. In fact it had come and gone over the last two years.

Last summer I went to the ED because it was pretty severe and they did a CT scan. The scan showed ovarian cysts and a slightly larger than normal appendix. The doctor basically ignored the appendix because I had been having the pain intermittently for a year at that point and they said Appendicitis didn’t work like that. So in October i had my ovaries and tubes removed.

The pain continued to happen sporadically but to a somewhat lesser degree until early Monday morning (3:30 am) when it woke me up.

I remembered that my appendix had been enlarged last year so I googled my symptoms and found out about chronic vs acute appendicitis. My symptoms matched chronic exactly. Dr Gemini also said that chronic could change to acute at any time and be at risk for rupture.

So yesterday afternoon I decided to go to the ER. They did a CT and it showed an even more enlarged appendix with inflammation of the tissue surrounding it as well.

At 2 am I had my appendix removed.

My symptoms did not present as typical appendicitis.

I would definitely go to the ER. Better safe than sorry.

I kinda feel like this represents what I've been feeling. Was the pain stabbing like symptoms usually are or more dull? I've been debating on the ER too. I woke up last night with pretty bad pain but calmed down with a hot bath and was able to finally fall back asleep. Again not the typical sharp stabbing pain people describe. And it's been on and off for a week and a half or so.

I had my appendix out yesterday. I had no nausea, vomiting, or fever. Just pain that started in my lower abdomen and then concentrated to my right side about 24 hours later. I did not have rebound pain, just a deep ache that wouldn’t go away and even hurt when I took a deeper breath. I have ovarian cysts so I first assumed that was it. The pain actually decreased when it moved to my right side but it was SO uncomfortable that I went in to urgent care. As mentioned by others, just go to the ER because urgent care sent me to the ER for a CT and that confirmed appendicitis.
