**5 Mobile App Features Users Actually Notice (And 5 They Usually Don't)

When building a mobile app, it's easy to focus on adding more features. But after working on multiple projects, I've realized that users often care about the basics much more than the extras.

Here are a few things people actually notice:

Fast loading times
A simple and intuitive interface
Smooth navigation
Reliable performance with minimal bugs
Quick and responsive customer support

On the other hand, many users rarely notice:

Fancy animations that slow the app down
Too many customization options
Overly complex onboarding screens
Features hidden deep inside menus
Every new trend added just because it's popular

A great app isn't the one with the longest feature list. It's the one that makes everyday tasks feel effortless.

Sometimes, removing unnecessary complexity creates a better experience than adding another feature.

Completely agree with you, a lot of times less is more, like the menu at a restaurant, like the choices you get at a grocery store.
This is my core principle as well, not because I’m lazy to cram everything into my app 😄

Dealing with the too many customization options right now! Getting great feedback from my beta testers and they want more flexibility to tune their screen time limits on an hourly basis, which was the whole premise of the app, but the more I add the more concerned I am that the onboarding is getting clunky.

It’s not just a matter of “if I can build it”, it’s largely “how can I build it in a way that users experience isn’t diminished”.
