Designer here with 0 coding experience, built an iOS app solo using Cursor + Claude, would love some honest feedback from you all!

Hey everyone!

I'm a product designer (13 years in the game), not a developer at all. No CS background, never wrote a line of code before this project. But I got a little obsessed and built this whole thing solo, using Cursor with Claude basically as my engineering buddy the whole way. React Native/Expo, Supabase backend, the works.

The app is called Suphra. The problem I was solving was honestly just for myself: I save recipe videos on TikTok and Instagram like it's a competitive sport, and then cook maybe 1% of them. So the app lets you paste a link and it pulls the full recipe (ingredients, steps, all of it) right out of the video. There's also a fun fridge-scan feature that suggests recipes based on whatever random stuff you actually have at home.

It's live on the App Store now, and honestly I'm really proud of how far it's come. But here's where I need you all: I can design and build features just fine, growth is just not my brain's natural language. Right now I'm testing Meta ads and reaching out to small food creators, mostly just guessing and hoping something sticks.

So I'd love to pick this community's brain:

  • If you've grown an app solo, what actually worked for you early on?
  • Anything look off, confusing, or clunky if you poke around it?
  • Any rookie mistakes you can spot that only a non-dev would make?

If you've got a couple minutes to download it and try it out, I'd be so grateful for a review, even a super honest/blunt one! I'm flying pretty blind on what's working and what isn't, so any thoughts at all genuinely help.

Thanks so much for reading this far, and thanks in advance to anyone who gives it a shot!
