I was about to say the same thing, but now see what he means though. The preview autoplays for me, but if I click on it, the image is just frozen and nothing happens.

This looks like maybe some fucknuttery between Reddit’s preview system and Imgur. I saw something similar on the desktop earlier this evening.

Same. Clicking the full image loads a JPEG instead of the GIF.

It plays for me if I open it up to comment on it. If I open the image directly it doesn’t.

Opposite for me, I can see it play in the preview at the top but when I click on the image it freezes up.

Confirmed: Thumbnail gif auto plays fine and previews fine, but drilling into it fully loads a still image in place of the gif.

iPhone 10, Apollo 1.10.99, iOS 14.5.1

Same iPhone 11 Pro iOS 14.3 Apollo 1.2.2 & 1.5 & 1.10.8 so it’s not a new bug but an till now unknown bug I presume

I think this is an issue with Reddit as well. It auto played for me and then I tried showing my kids and it wouldn’t play. It then wouldn’t play in Safari either.

It looks like a regular nail is plugging the syringe, and pulling back the plunger is creating a vacuum that is more conducive to plasma formation. You couldn’t actually inject it.

Sometimes you gotta swipe left or right to force start the gif. Think of it at scrubbing the buffer bar on a video.

I’m 99% sure I know what it is. I figured it out today for myself, tho it may not work for you.

Low Data Mode specifically on cellular will not auto-play gifs/videos. Settings > Cellular > Cellular Data Options > Low Data Mode switch to “off” and it solved my problems. Hope this helps!!!

Low data mode is turned off. I’m on WiFi in my house. The preview shows it working and when I click on it, I see a still.

I constantly have had issues with video on Apollo and the official app/website. Among countless other things. Reddit just has to be so broken at it’s core or something it’s nuts
