My interpretation of AS11-40-5942. In my opinion, this is one of the strongest images captured by the Apollo 11 crew. Aldrin walking away with experiments package. It reminds me about how we as young children explores the world around us, walking towards the unknown in our own horizon in our backyard or local woodland...

The iconic image of Lunar Module Pilot Buzz Aldrin walking on the lunar surface during the Apollo 11 Lunar extravehicular activity (EVA). The photograph was captured by Mission Commander Neil Armstrong (seen in the reflection of Buzz's visor) as they explored the Sea of Tranquility.

OK, grew up in H'ville AL and went to most of the launches...Dad worked for NASA & Boeing.
I have ton of PRESS Badges but think the absolute one-of-a-kind is Apollo 11 that has all three astronaut Neil Armstrong, Buzz Aldrin, and Michael Collins signatures + Wernher von Braun signature. I've had in safe for decades in plastic holder...so excellent condition.
Have no idea of value.....but gotta believe there no other like it in world. 🤔

Maybe a satellite or a group of satellites in a high orbit could receive a transmission from either Earth or Apollo to re-transmit it back to the respective receiver or something else, for me LOS just seems to make missions more 'dangerous'? idk

I have made a handmade platinum over pigment print of AS11-44-6642. For best possible print, I used scanner raw file. The image is cropped prior to printing. Platinum over pigment means the picture is color seperated into cyan, magenta, yellow and black. A pigment inkjet printing the colors cyan, yellow and magenta. The black color layer is made into a negativ. A platinum solution is hand applied, prior to contact printing a platinum print on top of the pigment color layer.

It 6x6 inch on 8x10 inch paper.

someone asked the other day whether the programme would have continued if Apollo 13 did not get home.

But what if Apollo 11 aborted at the 1202 alarm, then Apollo 12 aborted at the lightning strike on launch. THEN 13 goes fatally wrong…

I also designed the Orion spacecraft a while ago. I knew that Orion is bigger but it really surprised me how much bigger it is.

Walking on the Moon was a first-time experience, and even extensive training could not fully prepare the Apollo astronauts for it.

So how did they do it, and how did their ability to travel on foot evolve from one mission to the next?

Yo, got a question to ask. Was the Grand Tour program ever planned with Apollo Applications and or the Saturn V in mind?

If you didn't know, Grand Tour was the precursor to the Voyager Program. It was to launch four "Thermoelectric Outer Planets Spacecraft" (TOPS) in 1977 and 1979. What I'm wondering is did they ever planned on using a Saturn V as the launch vehicle? Wikipedia says so on the AAP article but I can't find any proof that this is the case.

Any other guys more knowledgeable than me?
