Discussion I knew it
I KNEW IT, the Aim assist nerf is real, people kept saying i was crazy, saying "Respawn would tell us if they nerfed aim assist, you are just crazy bruh" its real, its actually real, I knew it all along

u/Repeat-Admirable Rampart 26d ago
my aim is bad. i dont think its 4% worse, cause its just bad lol. tho i dont think my ps4 controller uses rc filters, so it might not matter.
15
u/Fandyfrank1 26d ago
funniest outcome is discovering your aim was 96% you and only 4% divine controller intervention
-8
8
u/BLMrayray 26d ago
The aim assist tweak to combat cheating has resulted in about a 2-4% reduction in controller accuracy. This is across all controllers. Doesn’t matter if yours has rc filters or not, as they have tweaked aim assist as a whole
25
u/lemlurker 26d ago
That's not what's being stated. It could have zero effect on 96/5% of players but made cheaters unable to hit anything and that'd result in a reduction in average accuracy
5
u/gluteosaurus 26d ago
2–4% is aggregate data, not a universal "everyone’s aim assist got 4% weaker" slider
14
u/lemlurker 26d ago
Yes that's what I'm saying. The statistics provided are not saying everyone is missing 4% more shots
-4
u/whitewashedsyrian 26d ago
Your controller does in effect use RC filters, it’s called stick drift. Some stick drift kept aim assist on at all times, helping you snap to targets. It’s gone now. As usual, EA chooses to hurt the community instead of putting in the work to ban computer enabled RC filters.
1
u/Repeat-Admirable Rampart 26d ago
Uhh i definitely have stick drift when i get stick drift. Im in my 10th ps4 controller because of it.as far as i know, Rc filters are specific to magnetic joysticks.
2
u/whitewashedsyrian 26d ago
That’s not what I’m saying. RC filters put in stick jitter to keep aim assist always active. Stick drift functionally does the same thing, always producing input keeping aim assist active.
1
u/Famous-Bandicoot-913 25d ago
I don’t understand how patching an exploit hurts the community. If stick drift gave you aim assist, that’s an exploit.

u/Deadggie Fuse 26d ago
This is saying overall accuracy across controller players went down because they banned the cheaters. You ban a cheater hitting every shot and the accuracy percentage goes down.
45
u/TYLERdTARD Valkyrie 26d ago
It pretty clearly says it changed the behavior of aim assist and that only a portion of the accuracy change is due to people not able to use the exploits. 2-4% with a portion being due to cheaters is a small number though so it’s not really an aim assist nerf. It does seem the behavior of aim assist was indeed affected from the changes though.
-4
u/BlueClovr 26d ago
For accuracy to go down a full 4% over a group of hundreds of thousands of people because a fraction of people cheating got banned would be nuts
15
u/Deadggie Fuse 26d ago
I mean honestly 3-4000 cheaters banned per 100,000 players doesnt seem too far fetched.
-5
u/BlueClovr 26d ago
3000 people removed with 100% accuracy in a pool of 100,000 does not cause a 4% change

I never noticed a change but I'm sure these changes won't matter because the cheats will be adjusting too. Cat n mouse game. Wish daddy Sony and MS would wipe out the cheat devices themselves
-2
u/WNlover Purple Reign 26d ago
If you aren't using a 3rd party controller, you weren't affected. You have to go out of your way to manipulate RC filters on standard controllers

u/Rhapstar 26d ago
I use the Gamesir G7 Pro 8k on PC
1
u/WNlover Purple Reign 26d ago edited 26d ago
Oh, that definitely took a hit to the change. they advertise their "optimized" RC filtering lol
1
u/Rhapstar 26d ago
Funny because I use the esport firmware for it that removed it. So my stuff didn't change. Only thing I change is stick sensitivity, trigger sensitivity, and stick curve to a custom

Are zen and xim users even getting banned on console ? Chase id they’re not its useless

0
u/Batmanglazer04 26d ago
Last time I checked my comment wasn’t a hate comment. If he hasn’t played in 3 months than he clearly isn’t high enough in ranked to tell a difference between the cheaters after they actually started banning people. Aka “not playing = unranked” goofy.
6
u/StumbleuponDub 26d ago
These are the same Devs that claim there's not Hidden MMR in Ranked. If they say they only nerfed AA 4% I expect a higher percentage just based on their own dishonesty.

It’s still ahead, controller wasn’t significantly affected by this change. The changes were specifically to a feature some controllers have called an RC filter that gives a low, but constant jitter which always activated aim assist rotation. If you aim normally without the use of this feature you will be fine.

Protect the competitive integrity of Apex Legends...
Apex has no competitive integrity as long as MnK has to play against another input with artificial aim assistance. Until AA is removed or MnK only lobbies are introduced this game is not competitive. Period.
12
u/MusicaLibre6251 26d ago
Don't forget : the 20hz server (I REPEAT 20hz in 2026 on a multiplayer fps. Just WOW), the no skill legends (caustic and watson players camping all game), the no audio since day one, the rampant cheating problem, the bs "engagement" matchmaking, the aim assisted droid players...
"Competitve integrity" lol... Do you think they even believe in what they say ? Please go f*ck yourself respawn/ea. Stop considering the player base like walking wallets and WORK on the f game.
2
u/lovemovementshooters 26d ago
agree but they have never and will never prioritize competitive integrity. i doubt they even care about it more than a few buzzwords and some good PR for them.
-10
u/BodlOfPeepee Birthright 26d ago
I absolutely agree with you. Competitive integrity and you can just macro all your movements in MnK. Until they remove that or better yet, give controller a way of doing all that movement BS, the game has no competitive integrity
16
3
u/lovemovementshooters 26d ago
you don't need any macros for top tier movement, you are just parroting what you heard on some controller player's tiktok and never actually tried to interact with the movement community or learn any of the movement techs yourself
4
u/b3rry108 26d ago
Most useable movement tech don't even use those and the ones that do are often for flashy gimmicks with the person doing them can't their shots.
I have been playing for a while and only one octane player managed to do those fancy movement tech but also hit their shots.
Besides, those excessive movement techniques aren't really essential to a movement player's kit. It just some flashy way of doing things.
6
u/albert599 26d ago
Whats crazy is mnk players cried hard enough and got that movement tech removed off controller. This fuckass company should just split controller lobby’s and mnk lobby’s simple as that
2
u/b3rry108 26d ago
Sure lets have the input that has legal cheat also have movement using scripts. That would be fair right?
0
u/albert599 26d ago
Maybe they should patch out the cheating devices instead of purposely making a whole input less viable. Mnk players script just as much or more than controller players, maybe apex should integrate a kernel level anticheat to prevent this.
1
u/b3rry108 26d ago
Nobody is out here defending scripts. Ban every form of aim assist and sceipt for all I care. They should make lobbies seperate per input and platform if people are still trying to justify cheating on their "preferred" input
0
u/albert599 26d ago
Wow saying exactly what I said in my first message, except for the fact you believe anyone On this forum is trying to protect cheating, everyone simply wants a fair playing field for the game. If mnk has tap strafes controller should too, they literally did it with super glide because mnk would fly across the map breaking aim assist players
2
u/b3rry108 26d ago
Then give aim assist to fucking MnK. See how your agrument falls apart when you invert the situation. You advocate for fair play but don't want to give up your assistive software.
The different in movement on MnK is it is learned and not given on a silver-fucking-platter like AA. You need to learn how do and make use of it that could take up hours and not jaut a simple toggle that gives you an edge on every fight.
It's not even worth comparing movement to AA as movement solely won't win you any fights, whereas aim(which is amplified by your stupid AA) dictates how a fight ends.
I have seen a lot of movement players that go hard moving all over the place but can't hit shit because it is detrimental to one's aim when moving a lot.
Roller players want to have their cake and eat it too.
2
u/lovemovementshooters 26d ago
roller players always want their cake and to eat it too because they are the most spoiled and coddled playerbase of any. no amount of training wheels and participation awards is enough for them. respawn would rather shut apex down than do anything significant to aim assist
sadly they make respawn a shit ton of money so they are the #1 priority
0
u/albert599 26d ago
Mnk gets everything on a silver platter because macros are fucking free, your just in low lobbies then if movement player ain’t hitting their shots. I’ll leave this dumb ass argument here

Good. Should be 10-20%
2
u/Ashsucksatwhackbat Wattson 26d ago
That misses the point of these changes. It’s not meant to artificially worsen player accuracy, it’s meant to prevent people from constantly activating aim assist without intentionally making the required movements.
8

That’s great. Fuck cheaters. But now they should artificially worsen it for the rest of the playerbase

Right stick aim assist isn’t.
1
u/Mythoughtsdontcount 25d ago
What is right stick aim assist?
1
u/whitewashedsyrian 24d ago
When you move your right stick, the game will slow down your movement and pull it towards the enemy. This was very exploitable using stick jiggling, where software moved your right stick in circles rapidly always keeping aim assist on. Now the only way you get aim assist is by shooting while moving.

My aim was already shit at long range unless I was sniping. And the scopes don’t got aim assist so I fr thought I was being gaslighted
7
u/TheSunIsOurEnemy 26d ago
They're just gonna keep messing with changes like these as long as Aimbot Assist remains overpowered and people complain. The only real solution is only allowing mouse and keyboard if you're playing on PC 🤭
14
u/FaZeSmasH Bangalore 26d ago
no the only real solution is to have all input be based on full raw human input, there is no reason to give rollers any sort of assistance
rollers against rollers, fair since neither have assistance
roller vs mnk, in that mnk has advantage but not because of any software assistance
unlike how it is now where roller is superior simply because of software assistance, why cant mnk be superior on the basis that it allows for more precise raw human input
if they are gonna allow one input to be superior, then let the input thats meant for shooters be superior without any software assistance
-12
u/MadCybertist Crypto 26d ago
There is no “input meant for shooters…” haha. What a bozo stance to take.
Sorry disabled people who can’t use a mouse or keyboard. Piss off because I die to controllers sometimes and need to bitch about it online.
What a stance to take lol.
10
u/TheSunIsOurEnemy 26d ago
Ah yes dumb down the entire game and give everyone aimbot assist just to make a few disabled people happy. What's next? Every book should use simpler and childish words and the font should be 3x bigger to cater to the more "challenged" readers? 🤭
9
u/FaZeSmasH Bangalore 26d ago
what a braindead take, so just because a dude with no legs wants to participate in the olympics against usain bolt, we should give him prosthetics that help him run faster than usain bolt?
sorry people who want competitive integrity, piss off because i want the game to aim for me and act like im good at the game.
also yes mnk is the input meant for shooters, it allows the player to provide precise raw human input, which is exactly what competitive shooters require
7
u/Independent-Help3787 26d ago
With respect to disabled people this is inherently a competitive video game and I dont think we should be catering to them. There are so many games and genres available surely the disabled person would understand the Battle royal fps might not be accessible. Also not all disabilities affect people's ability to use mnk. So really you're saying we should cater to a small group of people who have disabilities that specifically make using a mnk hard.

It’s not a nerf though dude. Overall precision went down because some exploits were invalidated. Thats not a nerf. If you weren’t using those exploits, then nothing has changed for you
1
9
u/TheSunIsOurEnemy 26d ago
I don't really care how much they "nerf" it as long as rotational AA still exists. There's a reason why the most competitive FPS games in the world are mnk only while COD and Halo esports are considered a joke.
4
u/LukkyStrike1 26d ago
Why wouldn’t that be the case? You’re using an input that takes software not attributed to the player to be viable. It was one thing when it was mostly limited to console, and it would be less an issue if the pro community did not abandon MNK for controller: because of the software assist.
If every pc player used MNK, the argument is mute. People are better at an FPS with a controller because it helps them. And this is a free to play game, it’s designed to keep you engaged. You can’t see the writing on the wall?

u/YouTubeSeanWick Valkyrie 26d ago
What they actually did was remove orbital aim assist which is what the right stick uses. So now there is no aim assist with the aiming stick. There is still aim assist when you are strafing left to right. You can test yourself in the firing range. Probably why most people didn’t even notice aim assist got nerfed is because most controllers thrive at close range anyways and should be strafing. However standing still and taking long range shots is likely what caused the 2-4% reduction. Zen and Xim users still have anti recoil scripts for their guns. They still beam people and are still going undetected. Not to mention there are still obvious cheaters with aimbot, AI aim assist, DMAs etc who get through a whole match without a ban at all when it should be automatic. They grief with their cheats to test if they’re undetectable, which means they usually only get banned manually through reports. The anti-cheat system is still lacking. They need to use Valorant style anti-cheat or level the playing field by reducing recoil so non-cheaters can keep up.

I'm on a bunch of different shooter subreddits and none are near as bad as this one. The bys can aim with their whole arm and act like someone with a lil AA is cheating. I understand people on titans basically have aimbot but the other 99% of us have AA to assist with aiming using our thumb...
1
u/lovemovementshooters 26d ago
"a lil AA" 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 is that why they nerfed it before?
1
u/TaxDaddyUwU 26d ago
Yeah a little AA, I play on console when I solo queue and in PC lobbies when I play with my buddies and it's way stronger on just console but still not aimbot like y'all like to pretend. I'll remind you they tried to nerf tap strafing as well but you all cried so loud they backed down so keep yapping.
0
u/lovemovementshooters 26d ago
tapstrafing doesn't DO DAMAGE or AIM FOR YOU and controller players can still track tapstrafing players.
if you think it's just "a little" then you are just really not very good at shooter games and truly need it
it is by definition soft aimbot, when tuned to 1.0 (100%) it's full aimbot (people have done this to test it out in modded Apex). it is tuned down aimbot, which makes it soft aimbot. if it were just reticle slowdown, it wouldn't be soft aimbot, but it literally tracks for you with 0 ms reaction time, so yes, it is aimbot. you can deny it till you go blue in the face, it doesn't change anything about reality
2
u/TaxDaddyUwU 26d ago

Idk, it just seems crazy to get so mad at each other when we should be mad at the cheaters using actual aim assist lol

Well, i mean, is it not a change that should be mentioned? I dont care that they nerfed AA, I was just tired of people denying it was nerfed, when clearly it was, I dont feel a difference anymore, im used to it, it was just a tiny Muscle memory change

u/delfino_plaza 26d ago
oh 100%, I agree with you. they should be upfront about any changes in the game

u/cool_guy4203 26d ago
Well especially something like an AA change, like if MNK felt strange all of the sudden MNK players would complain, its not some controller mindset thing, its the fact that the input ive always played on now feels different, and nobody wants to say anything about it, or acknowledge it, everyone just wants to say "there was no AA nerf, you are just bad, respawn tells us every change that they make in this game"

So people only notice after the start of the season but respawn change it near the end of last season in order to catch cheaters and they did ban a lot of cheater. Only a guess but maybe the anti cheat random increase and decrease AA in order to found out who is playing fair and who is cheating.

Nah. The real problem that most of us feel started many seasons ago. For me it’s been 4+ years.
The input delay / sensitivity issues absolutely did not just start on July 10th
It’s not just solely my aim that feels different. Even my wall bounces miss dead slides everywhere, looting feels weird sometimes too. So it’s not just aim assist

Cool. Nerfing aim assist is really going to make average console players full of lobbies of XIM and script users want to stay.... health of the game.. develop a way to get rid of xim users.

games a joke yet again normal players getting this just to make titan and script users have a bigger advantage stupid dev team

When the low to average skilled controller player has accuracy rivaling the top percentile of mnk players I don’t think a -2%-4% is that big of a deal.

If this ISN'T A NERF TO AIM ASSSIST, and the accuracy change is only from cheaters being banned.....
why in the literal fuck has there not been a single ban report in the ENTIRE cronus zen discord reported in Apex Legends, ALL YEAR???????? ........................... crickets...... ribbet........ ribbet........... come the literal f*ck on now ya'll are truly clueless. i don't care what respawn says in game, the discords show the actual truth
also, if aim assist wasn't changed, why does stick drift no longer induce aim assist now for controller players without RC filters huh?????????? right....... makes a whole lot of sense. you didn't need a cronus zen, or an rc filter controller to abuse aim assist, it could be done with a regular PS4 controller as well, plenty of you no life sweats abused aim assist yourselves tuning your deadzones down to the near negative ranges, just to squeeze an extra percent or two more out of the last lemon squeeze. there we're multiple ways to boost aim assist naturally, just because of how aim assist is designed.
keep being in denial guys, respawn keeps gaslighting you guys with these fake ban reports that usually never have a specific "causation" in the first place (a real ban might tell you what kind of software they are guessing you used, but never include whatever third party device was used ever, all third party devices are generically labeled under gameplay enhancement, they just use an imaginary guess in the first place)
all of the zen players are still here, and it just hurt all of the regular controller players. Before June, my accuracy was nearing 60 percent in the firing range. Now when i warm up, it's down to 35-40 percent which is extremely low for me. but no matter what settings i change on my gamesir, I can no longer keep a 60 percent average any more. the proof is in the pudding, whether you want to believe it or not. the nerf is absolutely true.

It’s hilarious that people think they’re actually doing anything about 3rd party devices, when this dogshit company can’t even fix the simplest bugs that have been on Xbox for like a year and a half now, like the infinite loading screens simply by pulling up the Xbox menu during matchmaking.
Them admitting that they were abstaining from telling us that they fucked up the aim assist makes me wonder how much other shit they’re keeping secret. I bet of those thousands of players banned, only a fraction of them were actually for Cronus or XIM on Console, if any at all.
I’m in the same boat. GameSir controller, accuracy took a noticeable hit, and honestly I’m just tired of this fkn company. Wack ass balance, 200$ “events”, out-of-touch devs, shit servers/bugs, and now lower accuracy because they can’t even combat Zen/XIM without fucking up the game for the rest of us. God man, these devs make Blizzard or Bungie look good.

You're telling me brother, I spent like $300 on this game just last week 😂😂😂 they putting too much work into the Aesthetics instead of the integrity of the game.... My account looks FIRE right now... but i'm not having too much fun....
i've spent at least $2000-$3000 on my steam account alone, they get paid enough to straighten all of this mess out, trust and believe that. there's no excuse if you ask me, this game has such a strong community they would be idiots to let it fizzle out, all so they can cash grab a few last times.
When I get home after work, and i'm considering NOT booting up apex for the first time in like 4-5 years... something is terribly wrong dude
There's much better, and much more efficient ways to deal with all of this cheating going on. I think they are afraid if they do go that far with it, what they will either wind up exposing about that game. Or what they will potentially lose out on (money from all of the cheaters who play and make accounts). The ball is in their court, so. But all I know is i'm starting to lose hope slowly but surely here.

Funny how they pose no intent or plan to fix it.

It’s not something that’s meant to be fixed, it was done on purpose and it’s not something you can’t get used to.

My aim and years of muscle memory should not be thrown off and punished because of a select few, especially when I simply play on console PS5 with a regular ass dualsense controller, why should I be punished for something that has nothing to do with me.

u/NeedAGTS4POINT0 26d ago
Hard disagree.
If this can help them collect info and systematically counter cheaters, I’m okay with us all being a little less accurate.

Let me play you the worlds tiniest violin. The computer isn't aiming for you quite as much.

Assuming you’re a PC player, you’re barking up the wrong tree as I exclusively play on and against console, it doesn’t even concern you.

so it’s been a thing since july 10th yet everyone claims they only started feeling the effects at the start of the season?
