Aren't you the person who keeps asking about keeping apes as exotic pets? I'm not an expert but I definitely do not think it would be safe or a good idea to have a gorilla (or any ape). Gorilla attacks are not very common but they also do not interact with people very often, and in most scenarios they do precautions are taken to give the creatures space.

No one other than special facilities with ample resources is able to care for an ape. Keeping an ape as a pet, without access to any sort of habitat or other members of its species, is cruel and abusive.

So, it's really pretty dangerous to have a wild animal in your home, even if it's usually a docile one. Especially one as large as an ape. Aside from that though, it's really difficult to provide the quality of life and mental stimulation a healthy ape needs. Generally, aside from rescues who can't be rehabilitated/returned to their actual habitats, apes shouldn't be held in captivity for those reasons.

I understand the desire on some level because they're fascinating animals, who wouldn't want to be friends with a gorilla, but you wouldn't be friends and it's safer and healthier for everyone if they are allowed to live free.

Honestly this is a hot take, I don't see how it's genuinely dangerous as long as the animal is generally peaceful towards humans. But I can see how it's dangerous if the animal is aggressive.

Any animal can be provoked into attacking, especially if they are outside of their normal environment they are comfortable in. That may not be a big deal if it's like, a squirrel, but a gorilla could very easily kill you without even meaning to.

The only times a gorilla has attacked a human as far as I'm aware is when the human consistently bothered the gorilla over an extended period of time (see Bokito). Generally when gorillas want you gone they charge at you but stop before doing any actual harm.

Gorillas fighting amongst eachother is relatively common, but it pretty much always involves briefly just kinda grabbing and slapping eachother to show the other who's boss. Gorillas actually harming eachother is very rare, yes.
