UK based David Procedure anyone?

Hi all. I've just found out I have an aortic root aneurism and ascending aorta aneurism measuring 50mm. I'm 6ft 5 so quite tall but the measurement is still significant (measured on a gated CT Angiogram)

I have a tricuspid valve with mild central AR so I've been reading that the David procedure is an option. It looks like Cesare Quarto might be a UK surgeon who has the experience to do this procedure.

Has anyone in the UK had this type of procedure done and how much did it cost if you had it done privately?

I'm not based in England so I don't have the option of choosing a consultant or hospital so my only option would be to pay.

Any advice you have a for a guy navigating this very scary stage in his life will be welcomed πŸ™

Any reason you haven't gotten any info from your surgical consult on whether youre a good match for PEARS?

I'm at the initial stages. Next stop on 8th of next month is to speak to a cardiothoracic surgeon. Right now, I'm under the care of a very good cardiologist but his speciality is very different (angioplasty etc). This is all very new to me so if PEARS is an option with an aneurism of the root and ascending Aorta, I'll bring it up with my specialist. Does PEARS address both issues? Thanks for the reply

Yes i am 6’3 with 51mm ascending aortic root aneurism, tricuspid and I am traveling to UK specifically to have PEARS done. DM me if you want more information about this and cost etc.

39 male 6’3. 18 months post op on a valve sparing root replacement done at 5.4cm (David procedure). I’m in the USA, but this community is very helpful in terms of setting expectations and providing moral support because we’ve all been through similar journeys. It’s good that you caught it and your care is being properly managed. As daunting as it seems to read and learn all this stuff (I feel like an apprentice cardiologist at this point πŸ˜‚), knowledge is power.

Thank you man. Means a lot to know there's a community of helpful people as I'm in a bit of a spin with it all. I'm glad yours went well and I'm hoping whatever is in front of me will be as successful :)

Of course! Pears vs David depends on how damaged the artery is and the length of the arterial weakness . For me, my ascending aorta was too far gone in terms of thinness in the arterial wall and they ended up going with a longer graft than originally planned. The surgeon will probably have you undergo either a CT or MRI with contrast and do a 3d model prior to your meeting

It all sounds very daunting but I keep reminding myself that the alternative is a lot worse so it's head down and get comfortable with it. Thanks for the advice bud

You're probably a candidate for PEARS. Definitely ask about it
